If you arrive at a reasonable time - Ok service, not a good value, take a ride share.

If you arrive at a reasonable time, don't bother with welcome pickups. It's just a very expensive ride share. The main issue is that it's hard to coordinate the pickup time because of the customs line and if you have to wait for luggage. The person picking us up asked if we wanted to wait for him or walk out to gate 8. Since we had our luggage and passed through customs. We walked to gate 8. Driver was nice and reasonable. But you could have saved yourself quite a few dollars and just take the ride share. Mexico City airport was easy to navigate.

First and last time!

This was our first time using Welcome Pickups and it will be the last. We knew we were paying more than for a regular taxi on arrival but we made that choice because we wanted a more convenient and comfortable experience after a 12+ hours flight. What was advertised was an English speaking driver waiting for us in the arrival Hall, a comfortable car and a driver giving us destination tips. The booking experience was fairly easy online, I prepaid and I was assigned a driver rapidly. But just a few hours before my departure flight I started getting notifications that our assigned driver was changed. Within about 20 minutes, I got 2 more changes of driver without any other explanations. That shook our confidence in the service but we tried to stay positive. There was no driver waiting for us in the Arrival Hall. As the free WiFi at the airport was very spotty, I had to purchase a Sim card at the airport to be able to communicate with the driver. That added a lot of delay. Once we connected, he was texting me in Spanish not in English which added more delay and confusion as I had to first copy and paste in Google translate. He was apparently parked nearby waiting for us to tell him we were ready. Once we finally connected at the curb and verified that he was our assigned driver, he barely spoke English and he was not even prepared with the address of our hotel. He got a few calls and spoke on the phone most of the ride. He did offer water. He seemed like a nice guy. But this is not at all what we expected from a prepaid service that cost almost twice as much as a normal taxi. Our arrival would have been much faster, smoother and cheaper if we would have used an airport taxi on arrival. We thought we would make our arrival after a very long flight easier by planning and paying more money in advance. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We will never use Welcome Pickups again.

Response from the operator: Hi mjoe, we apologize for any inconvenience you've experienced with your booking with us. Welcome Was a No Show

I booked a prepaid transport from Mexico City Airport to my hotel in the Historic Center. I was assured a driver would be waiting for me when I cleared customs with a sign bearing my name. I waited for an hour and a half. The driver was a No Show so I finally took a taxi to the hotel. I paid twice for my ride. Welcome refused to give me a refund because they said I was the No Show and they couldn’t contact me at the airport. I learned an expensive lesson with Welcome. Never again.

Response from the operator: Hello Howie, we are sorry to learn of the issue you faced with meeting the driver in Mexico city, please reach out to our support team at hello@welcomepickups.com with your transfer id for any further assistance you may need. Thank you for your review.

+

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mexico City Welcome Tour: Airport Pickup & City Highlights?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+

On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mexico City?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mexico City?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
