Not exactly what we were expecting
Maybe it was as advertised but we didn’t really know what we would get. Here is what it is: a group of slides sent to you at the start of the hunt. You can do small “missions” in any order — many involve talking to locals/other tourists. There is a virtual assistant, but she mostly just said encouraging things. Here is what it is not (but we thought it would be): get a clue, figure out the location/object and find it, send a picture to the virtual host to receive the next clue. In other words, an actual scavenger hunt. It did get us to get around a new location and created a memory. Just helpful to know what it is and isn’t.

So amazing!!!
I booked the hunt as a fun surprise for my boyfriend and we had such a great time our host MaryAnna was so amazing she was so entertaining and really made our experience even better. Even though it was virtual (not a probable at all super cool idea!) we both felt that our guide was so present. We had so much fun completing the hunt and exploring the city we will definitely be doing this again and check out the other city hunts 🫶

Fun idea, although very vague and not very walkable
First, I'm going to say we made the mistake of walking the whole time. We had a hard time figuring out what the prompts were asking us to do or find, and when we had questions, the host wouldn't respond for several minutes because they were busy assisting other people. We were also told which businesses to find, but not which locations, which led to us doubling back on our path a couple times. A couple of the slides were messed up; with the prompts being placed with the wrong photos. Overall, it was a fun idea, but not really well thought out for a walkable scavenger hunt.

Great experience
This was a virtual experience which means your directions come to your phone and the guide texts you throughout the hunt. The activities were so much fun to find and to be creative in what we sent in. We got to see so much of Myrtle beach and experience the life on Myrtle beach. It does take some driving to find all the places but it was so much fun. We laughed so much and had a great family bonding experience. The virtual tour guide responded to us every time we uploaded the picture of the things we found and she responded to what we created or found. We then at the end of the hunt received how many points we got and where we stood on the leaderboard. It was an easy 2 hours that was a great experience.
Response from the operator: Our waiver is standard. We had a workable solution for them had we heard from them in advance but we did not. They got a full refund from the platform after not attending. They requested a separate refund for us too. We wish them only good will.

Not what I was expecting
Not what I was expecting. I wanted personable interaction. I view scavenger hunts as a team thing of more than 2 people. Plus it was hard to understand directions and keep up with the hunt.
Response from the operator: We are so sorry to hear of your troubles. We weren’t made aware of them at the time, unfortunately. How did you expect us to provide you with opponents to race? Please call us so that we can understand and we can also extend a half off discount on your next hunt with us in another city. But we will never be able to guarantee you opponents to race against. Sometimes others sign up and other times they don’t and I’m sure you can appreciate we can’t control that. What part of the directions did you have difficulty with? We reviewed your hunt and didn’t see that you asked your host any questions or shared that you had any issues. Our team is very skilled at helping our hunters in the moment if needed, but only if we know. Please contact us to elaborate so that at least we can help you after the fact. Thank you!

Why this scores 52
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Merry Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Myrtle Beach.
How much does Merry Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Myrtle Beach usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Merry Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Myrtle Beach is not rushed.
Is Merry Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Myrtle Beach, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Merry Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Merry Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Merry Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Myrtle Beach can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Myrtle Beach and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Merry Myrtle Beach Scavenger Hunt start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Myrtle Beach within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Myrtle Beach?
+
Myrtle Beach runs dolphin cruises, deep sea fishing charters, helicopter flights over the Grand Strand, and low country day trips to Charleston and Brookgreen Gardens. Charter boat size and included gear are the deciding factors offshore. On Outty we rank every Myrtle Beach experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Waccamaw River Nature and Wildlife Tour, The Escape Game at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, Music and Memories at Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Myrtle Beach?
+
April to June and September to October. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Myrtle Beach?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
