    Safety systems lacking

Let me start by saying the people working were all extremely friendly. This is a small operation, not like the big operators the push 100+ people/ day through their facility. We were the only ones there. As far as I could tell we were the only clients for the day. The setup was nice and it was obvious a lot of time and effort was spent in creating the course. My concern, and resulting experience is with their safety systems. I noticed as we were doing the regular zip lines their carabineers did not all lock. The one holding my harness together with the straps in the front did not, nor did the one they attach to the pulley. We completed that portion and moved on to the Superman line. They changed our carabineers for some that did lock, which made me feel better. My wife and 2 kids went first and everything seemed to be fine. When I went, it didn't go so well. There were 2 newer guides and I think they just got in a hurry and weren't paying enough attention to safety procedures. I'm still not positive what happened but when I got to the end of the line and hit the safety stop line everything went wrong. My best guess is they didn't have the rope pulled tight and there was slack in the rope hanging down by the cable. The rope bound and I came to a sudden, complete stop. The rope slid across the side of my neck giving me a severe rope burn. I don't believe there was anything intentional, the guides were just anxious to be done working for the day. When we got back to the main facility they were quick to be off once our gear was removed. They did apply some antibiotic ointment to my neck before leaving but that was the extent of the interaction after my injury. Again, overall I think the people were very nice. They just weren't up to par on they're safety protocols and the equipment was not in the best condition. I'm positive my experience was a one off. You just can't afford a one off with this type of activity. I feel very fortunate the rope just caught the side of my neck. Anywhere else and the result could have been much different.

Response from the operator: We deeply regret the inconvenience that occurred during your tour. For us, the safety of our clients is our top priority, and we are saddened to hear that your experience was not ideal. Regarding the failure of one of the brake ropes, we would like to explain that our equipment has multiple safety systems in place precisely to respond in the event that one fails. However, we understand that this type of situation can cause concern, and we assure you that we will further review our protocols to avoid any future issues.

Mega Mix Adventure and Zipline Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Jaco.

How much does Mega Mix Adventure and Zipline Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $75 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Jaco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Mega Mix Adventure and Zipline Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Jaco is not rushed.

Is Mega Mix Adventure and Zipline Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Jaco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mega Mix Adventure and Zipline Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Mega Mix Adventure and Zipline Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Mega Mix Adventure and Zipline Tour?

    +

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Jaco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Jaco and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Mega Mix Adventure and Zipline Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Jaco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Jaco?

    +

On Outty we rank every Jaco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna Waterfall, Hot Springs Combo Tour with Lunch & Dinner, Surf Lessons with Pro Team in Jacó, Jaco Beach Costa Rica Horseback Riding. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Jaco?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Jaco?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
