    Too difficult

I run a thousand miles a year so I'm in great shape but I was only able to make it half way. The grade is a thousand feet per mile and when you factor in Medellín's altitude you'll be gasping for oxygen the entire way. Additionally what passes for trails in Colombia are not the well defined and maintained trails with switch-backs like you might have in your country. Here they're often nothing more than some flattened plants and ankle-deep mud usually going straight up like endless stairs.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your comment. That's right, our trails in Colombia are characterized by being more natural. They are usually old paths, mule and horse trails, and used by farmers. They are not specifically built for hiking. We are also in the Andes mountains, which makes the trails quite steep. The altitude is another factor that increases the difficulty for people who live in low-lying areas. Even so, these trails are very beautiful, more natural, and offer incredible views.

    Incredible walk through the forest

Erwin took us on an incredible 16-km hike through the forest west of Medellín. It was a short trip to arrive at the starting place and we were thrilled by the variety of plants and amazing views of the area. Erwin is very knowledgeable about nature and culture. We both speak Spanish, but he was helpful when we didn’t know words. His English is excellent is you need the tour in English. Highly recommended!

Great views and hike (but some notes for others)

Wonderful hike and amazing views!!! Having said that, I wish more information would have been available. Wear long pants, long sleeves, and socks, as we were not told this and we ended up with many many bug bites. We weren’t aware the landscape would be partly rainforest, and we didn’t feel the bites as we were hiking. Also, we gained approximately 3,400 feet in elevation so you might want to rethink if you are a beginner hiker.

Response from the operator: Hi. Thanks for your comment. It was nice hiking with you. Although you felt it was difficult, you did it, really good physical condition. Sorry for the bites. It wasn't mosquitoes because it would have started biting immediately. I will have to evaluate what insect it could be, perhaps because of the hot season. It will still be better to recommend the use of repellent if the next people wear shorts or wear long pants. Thank you.

    Amazing hike!

Beautiful 12km hike through pastures, cloud forests, rain forests and plateaus. Gorgeous views of Medellin throughout the whole hike. Guide Erwin Andres was excellent and taught me a lot about the history and flora and fauna surrounding Medellin. Best part was how peaceful it was - only a 20 min drive from my hotel, but almost no other tourists around. I would do this same hike again next time I am in Medellin. Highly recommend!

Medellín Viewpoints Hike: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Medellín.

How much does Medellín Viewpoints Hike cost?

    +

Prices start at $108 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Medellín usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Medellín Viewpoints Hike take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Medellín is not rushed.

Is Medellín Viewpoints Hike worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Medellín, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Medellín Viewpoints Hike?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Medellín Viewpoints Hike suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Medellín Viewpoints Hike?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Medellín can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Medellín and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Medellín Viewpoints Hike start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Medellín within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Medellín?

    +

On Outty we rank every Medellín experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guatapé Tour: Piedra del Peñol with Boat Tour, Breakfast, Lunch, Half Day Bike Tour in Medellin - Local snack, Coffee or Beer, Guided Tour of Comuna 13 Medellín with Snacks Included. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Medellín?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Medellín?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Medellín Viewpoints Hike?

What languages is Medellín Viewpoints Hike offered in?

    +
