Mavrovo Day trip from Skopje by private transport
This day trip was an excellent way to see another part of North Macedonia, apart from the capital city. The transport was comfortable & the guide (Lydia) & the driver (Mickey) were exceptional ambassadors for their country. They were knowledgeable, very informative, engaging & both spoke English very well. As there was just myself on the tour they were happy to tailor the day to suit my wishes. The included lunch was amazing. I would recommend this as the National Park is lovely & the mountainous scenery is wonderful & gives you a different experience to that of the city. Just, however, be aware that the picture advertising this tour is misleading...the featured church is high & dry now as the waters of the lake have receded significantly.

On the way to Ohrid from Skopje
We rent a car and on the way to Ohrid managed this visit. Easy to access and worth to visit, there is a nice cathedral there in the valley. Now the church was on dry thx to the low water level, but sometimes it is in the water.

Lucky Day
Driver Miki and guide Susana were great. Can’t be objective because it was such a lucky day.luxury ac sedan private tour . Once a year traditional formal wedding in high mountain village. Televised Nationwide The President attended. Music, costumes, horseback riders, ceremonies July 14 saints day was a Tuesday so event moved to the Saturday and we got to see it. Memorable special travel experience. The NP,lake and monastery with 1000 year old icon and unique wood carvings followed by excellent late lunch near the lake with traditional stew in a crock and local beer in frosted mug would have made for a nice day in the mountains but I can’t evaluate the tour because it probably isn’t possible to replicate getting Miki and Susana and the thrill of the folk spectacle. Note of caution the tour description on the Viator web site is not current. Sharks Cave is only open to large groups by prior special arrangements. Just as well because it would have required a scramble up a rocky hillside which we would not have attempted. And there was a disappointment. The photo on the web site features the partially submerged old church with the lake in the background. We planned to pose on the shore before the church and use it on this year’s Christmas card. It is an iconic travel image. Well the church has been high and dry for years. Climate change and low water. It is located up a small cove so no lake view. Ordinary church ruin with what little ambiance left spoiled by a newly constructed ugly new great concrete bell tower right in front. Viator should not be using an image that doesn’t show the current reality.we skipped the 1+ rough hike to the waterfall. It was hot and at 3pm after the monastery we were beat and very hungry and still faced a half hour drive back up the canyon to the lake. And the second church was closed for repairs. It’s a nice drive through some beautiful mountains, some religious art and a nice lunch and a full day out of the city to see more of the country but if you care about the submerged church find out about the water level before booking the tour and keep the other realities in mind

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Mavrovo Day Trip from Skopje: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Skopje.
How much does Mavrovo Day Trip from Skopje cost?
+
Prices start at $237 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Skopje usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Mavrovo Day Trip from Skopje take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Skopje is not rushed.
Is Mavrovo Day Trip from Skopje worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Skopje, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Mavrovo Day Trip from Skopje?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Mavrovo Day Trip from Skopje suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Mavrovo Day Trip from Skopje?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Skopje can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Skopje and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Mavrovo Day Trip from Skopje start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Skopje within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Skopje?
+
On Outty we rank every Skopje experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Walking In Skopje, Skopje: Canyon Matka, St. Pantelemon, Millennium Cross & Brunch, Group Tour from Skopje:Millennium Cross,Matka Canyon&Etno Village. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Skopje?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Skopje?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
