Mattering waterfall and coffee farm
A great day trip before my Kili climb. So nice to get close with the locals at the coffee tour. Great experience with my guide Mangi!

Overall great but taken advantage of
Actually this trip to the waterfall was part of a package trip. The coffee plantation was on the way to the waterfall. 2 days later I was asked for $80.00 to cover the coffee plantation visit, as was another in person in the group. This was a surprise to both of us. Now t I see in the posting that the waterfall and coffee plantation visit total is $70. I feel cheated for not being told upfront of the extra change now by seeing the add for both $70 Hmmm It was a wonderful experience but I do feel taken advantage of.
Response from the operator: It's really disappointing to see this kind of comment on my platform. Please remember that your travel agent, whom you've already paid, was available to answer any questions before you made this kind of statement. My business strives to be professional, and comments like this undermine that. Regarding the extra charge, I didn’t receive payment for the extension activities, which is why I had to charge for the additional costs. Even the other person in the group paid upfront. The trip is $80 for any group size under five. In the future, please double-check the details before posting comments like this—it’s not appropriate.

Great Views! Great Hike! Great Guide
Materuni Waterfall and Coffee Plantation Tour We had an amazing hike with Jackson from Kili Footprints, he is charismatic and genuine and a powerful communicator, he has In-depth knowledge and a whole lot of passion. A tour to Materuni Village and Waterfalls with Jackson is a great way to spend a day away from the bustle of town life. This very impressive Waterfall is one of the tallest in the area, spewing crystal-clear glacier water. Materuni village is at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. It is worth the trip; the scenic view of Moshi Town and Mount Kilimanjaro is astonishing. This green village with fresh air from green vegetations welcomes visitors to explore the beauty of the land and the cultural heritage of the Chagga people. The tour starts with a walk to Materuni Waterfall. It is an opportunity to see how local fruit like avocados, mangos, lemons, and bananas grow, as well as learn some of the local history, traditions, village economy, agricultural and cultural life. The tour will continue with a visit to the local village lying in the coffee plantations. The villagers will demonstrate the process of coffee farming and guide you through the preparation of coffee from a bean to a cup. Sing and dance along with the Chaga people as they are grinding, roasting and boiling the beans.

Thank you for choosing to spend the day with us, and we look forward to welcoming you on more adventures in the future! Warm regards, Jackson

Mt Kilimanjaro at its Best
Jackson was amazing. So knowledgeable, friendly and very patient with me (I probably should not have gone. Bad knees, bad back, bad combo! But my daughter had a great time!) I appreciated his pep talks! Kili is stunning. The waterfall was outstanding and the coffee demonstration was cool and fascinating. Absolutely beautiful country. I highly recommend this tour, especially with Jackson!

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moshi.
How much does Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moshi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moshi is not rushed.
Is Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Moshi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moshi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moshi and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Moshi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Moshi?
+
On Outty we rank every Moshi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfall, Coffee Tour and Picnic Hot Lunch, Materuni Waterfall and Coffee Plantation Half Day Tour, Kilimanjaro climb, Machame Route (7-day). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Moshi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Moshi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour?
+
Included: Private transportation; Other; Water; Lunch; and Experience guide. Not included: Airport Transfer; Tips for the crew; and Alcohol. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
Does Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour include hotel pickup?
+
Yes, pickup is offered for every traveler from 2 listed pickup locations in and around Moshi. Be ready about 30 minutes before the start time. You can also enter a custom pickup address when booking.
What languages is Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour offered in?
+
It runs in English. Pick your language when choosing a date and time, as not every departure runs in every language.
Will I get instant confirmation and a mobile ticket for Materuni waterfalls and coffee Tour?
+
Confirmation is sent by the operator after booking, usually within 48 hours; if it is not confirmed you are not charged. Mobile tickets are accepted, so you can show the voucher on your phone.
