Helen is the BEST! BEST tour ever!

A perfect tour on a perfect day. Helen picked us up at our hotel in Wellington in a very comfortable quiet Tesla. As we headed up the Hutt River she gave us a great history lesson about the town and region. Our first stop was a Kaitoki park with incredible large native trees. This is also Rivendell, where part of Lord of the Rings was filmed so there were markers about the film and great photo spots. Great stop for coffee and scones as we headed up the mountain and over the top to Martinborough. Wines we tasted at Palliser, Runholder (also incredible lunch), and finally Esparpment, our last stop. Could not have been a more perfect day with Helen. Reminded me once again how a private tour adds to your enjoyment! And being an American, didn't have to worry about driving on the other side of the road

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review. I am so happy to know you both enjoyed your tour in the beautiful wine region as much as I enjoyed your company. It was also a pleasure to learn about the native trees in your home, and about your local wines and your amazing desert garden. I love taking visitors to this special boutique wine region and our guests are always so well looked after by the hospitable and knowledgeable sommeliers in Martinborough. Wishing you many more safe and happy travels and more tastings of good wine from around the world. Kindest regards Helen

    What a perfect day

Such a fantastic day hosted by Helen. The scenery on the drive was incredible. Coffee stops, cheeses, chocolates and lots of wine tastings. A delicious lunch at The Runholder. A visit to the Rivendell site was magical. We were blessed with perfect weather. A perfect, relaxing day. Helen is so knowledgeable and looked after us so well for the day. We have definitely fallen in love with Martinborough and the beautiful countryside of New Zealand.

Response from the operator: Dear E and J Thank you so much for this lovely review. I am absolutely delighted to know that you both enjoyed your day in Martinborough as much as I enjoyed your company. It was such a pleasure to show you our boutique wine region in the beautiful Autumn sunshine. I was also very lucky to learn more about McLaren Vale wine, and thank you for the wonderful wine recommendations. I hope you will return one day for a taste of another Martinborough vintage and some fishing. Wellington day trip

Helen was just amazing, her knowledge on the region and local history was outstanding. We had a wonderful day from our first stop at a cheese tasting and then onto some wine tastings and an amazing lunch. We finished at a wonderful chocolate tasting and it was so much fun trying to guess what flavour each was. Would highly recommend this tour, very personal service.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your feedback. I am delighted to know that you both enjoyed the scenery, wine and food in our beautiful Wairarapa region. Wishing you both happy travels and I hope one day you will return for a taste of another vintage from Martinborough. Best wishes Helen

Martinborough Private Food and Wine Tour all inclusive Tesla SUV: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Wellington.

How much does Martinborough Private Food and Wine Tour all inclusive Tesla SUV cost?

    +

Prices start at $500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Wellington usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Martinborough Private Food and Wine Tour all inclusive Tesla SUV take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Wellington is not rushed.

Is Martinborough Private Food and Wine Tour all inclusive Tesla SUV worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Wellington, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Martinborough Private Food and Wine Tour all inclusive Tesla SUV?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Martinborough Private Food and Wine Tour all inclusive Tesla SUV suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Martinborough Private Food and Wine Tour all inclusive Tesla SUV?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Wellington can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Wellington and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Martinborough Private Food and Wine Tour all inclusive Tesla SUV start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Wellington within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Wellington?

    +

On Outty we rank every Wellington experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Overnight Experience Tour on Kapiti Island, Discover Wellington 3 hour City Tour, Martinborough Wine and Wild Coast Tour from Wellington. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Wellington?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Wellington?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
