Wine, cheese and food times
Had a wonderful tour around Martinborough sampling local food and drink with a trip to 2 vineyards (Poppys and Blue Earth), a taproom, cheese shop and a local chocolate shop with a game of guessing the flavour. It was a great addition to our honeymoon and we even bought some cheese, wine and chocolate on the tour for later on our honeymoon. We even got to do an olive oil tasting which we had never done before and it was interesting tasting the different blends and qualities of oil. Just don't be persuaded to try an olive of the trees, they are very bitter and do not taste how you would expect. The local guide was very knowledgeable about the area and could answer any questions we had as well as being really friendly.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely review, Naila. It was a real pleasure hosting you both on your honeymoon, and I’m delighted to hear the Martinborough foodie experience was such a memorable part of your trip together. It’s great that you enjoyed the mix of wine, cheese, chocolate and olive oil tasting — and that the “guess the flavour” chocolate challenge added a bit of fun along the way! Your warning about tasting olives straight from the tree gave me a laugh too — definitely a very different experience from the finished product. Thank you as well for your kind words about the guiding. I always enjoy sharing the stories, flavours and hidden gems of the Wairarapa with guests, so it’s wonderful to hear that came through during your day. Wishing you both an amazing honeymoon and many more foodie and wine adventures together in the future.

Enjoyable, comfortable day trip
We had a wonderful day thanks to Gary our tour guide. He gave us a detailed history about the different locations we passed through. Explained the background of the wineries before we got there. He was very warm and friendly and a very safe driver. Highly recommend the tour, and enjoyable well spent day.
Response from the operator: Thanks for the very kind feedback regarding your tour experience with us and your guide for the day Gary! Cheers.

This was an amazing tour....
This was an amazing tour. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and made the drive out to Martinborough fly by. The food, wine and olive oil were fantastic and complemented by the amazing landscape. We had a fab time, learning about Martinborough and its history.
Response from the operator: Thanks, Vipul. Pleasure to host. Glad you enjoyed it!

A great day out experiencing the best of the area
This was a great experience. This was touring and discovering the area. A local cheeserie. Walking through a family owned vineyard talking to the vintner about all things wine, tasting the grapes off the vine if the time is right. A fabulous lunch. Then walking through an olive grove talking to the owner about all things olives and farming. Wine tasting, a brewery for the boys if needed and some chocolate to finish. Our guide Phil has been doing this for 15 years and has a great knowledge of the area and relationships with the people we visited. Something for people who want to know more about the places they visit.
Response from the operator: Thanks for the wonderful review! Had a great day showing you through the amazing Wairarapa. Cheers!

Not to be missed
My friend and i enjoyed an excellent day with Phil from zozo tours exploring the Martinborough region … we were taken to a cheese shop first of all with a delicious array of cheese mostly made on the premises … next was a vineyard for wine tasting and delicious food … after lunch it was off to a very small vineyard and olive trees .. Margaret , the owner of the property was very knowledgeable and she and her husband built this very successful wine and speciality olive oil business over the 29 years they had been on the property … to finish off the day our senses were put to the test with a blindfold chocolate test tasting and naming 12 or more speciality chocolates … it was an excellent way to finish the day …. Highly recommended … thank you Phil
Response from the operator: Thanks. Very much my pleasure to host. Really appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback!

Why this scores 76
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Martinborough Winery and Foodie Day Tour with vineyard lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Wellington.
How much does Martinborough Winery and Foodie Day Tour with vineyard lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $196 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Wellington usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Martinborough Winery and Foodie Day Tour with vineyard lunch take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Wellington is not rushed.
Is Martinborough Winery and Foodie Day Tour with vineyard lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 49 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Wellington, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Martinborough Winery and Foodie Day Tour with vineyard lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Martinborough Winery and Foodie Day Tour with vineyard lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Martinborough Winery and Foodie Day Tour with vineyard lunch?
+
Around 17 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Wellington can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Wellington and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Martinborough Winery and Foodie Day Tour with vineyard lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Wellington within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Wellington?
+
On Outty we rank every Wellington experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Overnight Experience Tour on Kapiti Island, Discover Wellington 3 hour City Tour, Martinborough Wine and Wild Coast Tour from Wellington. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Wellington?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Wellington?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
