The 3D/2N itinerary...
The 3D/2N itinerary offers an ideal pace for traveling from the city through the Atlas Mountains and onward to the desert. Shorter trips, especially an overnight visit to Merzouga, involve 10–12 hours of driving each way and can feel rushed, so I preferred the longer option. Multiple guides led the excursion, with varying effectiveness. The primary driver-guide, Driss, was excellent—knowledgeable, organized, and attentive. The route through mountains, valleys, gorges, and viewpoints was well executed and provided a strong overview of the region. Other guiding experiences were mixed. • At Aït Benhaddou, the guide provided limited engagement and insight; the visit could have been equally effective self-guided. • In Rissani, the guide shared useful information but had limited English proficiency, which affected clarity. The mandatory stop at a rug cooperative felt unnecessary; making it optional would improve the experience. • The camel guide was notably skilled at photography and ensured every traveler received well-composed photos. However, camel handling carries inherent risks. During the ride, two camels became agitated—one bolted, forcing a rider to jump off, and another thrashed, resulting in minor injuries for me. While such incidents can occur with animals, travelers should be aware of the potential hazards. Accommodations varied significantly. Hotel Xaluca Dades delivered a smooth check-in, comfortable rooms, good views, attentive service, and quality buffet meals. In contrast, La Hamada Camp felt disorganized at arrival. Staff walked me around to multiple tents before deciding which one to assign, which was more inconvenient with luggage. While the tents were spacious and comfortable, the amenities were mediocre, the WiFi didn't work, and the service and food quality fell short of what you'd expect at a “luxury” camp. Based on this experience, it aligns more with a mid-range rating. Overall, because Merzouga is the focal point of the Marrakesh–Fes route, the underwhelming camp experience significantly affected the tour's overall rating.

Amazing Marrakech to Merzouga desert experience
We had an amazing experience on our trip from Marrakech to Merzouga. The journey was long, but the beautiful landscapes, mountains, traditional villages and desert views made it absolutely worth it. The highlight was reaching the Sahara, riding camels through the dunes and spending the night in the desert camp. A special thanks to our driver, Moha, who really made the whole trip even better. He was friendly, talkative and always in a great mood. During the journey, he told us a lot about Morocco, its culture and the different places we were passing through, which made the long drive much more interesting and enjoyable. Everything was well organized and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Morocco. Highly recommended!

Marrakech to Fes desert tour
The tour on the whole was very good and well organised. It came with 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts. The food served at dinners were traditional Moroccan dishes and they were very nice. The tent we stayed in the desert came with an en-suite bathroom and an air conditioner and we only paid the basic price. A big bonus. The driver picked us up and dropped us off to our riad at the end of the tour. Very good service there. My only comment would be the drive/guide’s command of English could be better as he could not explain in details and history of the different landmarks. Otherwise, on the whole, a really good tour and very good price.
