Disappointed in Madeira
Not what was expected or advertised. Our private 4 hour tour started 30 minutes late because the original drivers car had problems. No communication from the tour operator we had to chase them down to find out what was happening. Finally they responded and said we would be put with another couple. The four of us were crammed into a small car with the driver. He was nice enough but was simply a driver and not a tour guide with a lot of information. We were dropped off earlier than the 4 hours advertised. Still waiting to hear from Viator to see if we can get some sort of compensation

Excellent guide and tour
Because of an itinerary change with our cruise line, we had to change tours and what a great tour!! Domingo gave us a great tour of the island and what I thought was gonna be a tour of common sites of interest became a tour custom fitted for us! It was nice going to spots that large tour buses couldn’t go. If you want a personal touch, this is the half day tour you want. You won’t be disappointed!!
Response from the operator: Dear customer, thank you for sharing with us your experience. We look forward to having the opportunity to work with you in the future.

Tour Cancelled by Operator with 10 hours notice
The tour was cancelled by the operator with less than 12 hours notice. As we were on a cruise and it was nearly midnight we had no options for booking an alternative tour. Avoid this operator (BeDriven). If we wanted to cancel we had to provide 24hrs notice but the Operator can cancel at any time.
Response from the operator: Dear customer, thank you for your feedback. We will take the feedback into consideration and improve our services.

Great cruise excursion
Our driver Ricardo was fantastic. Very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Was just the two of us and Ricardo. We were picked up and dropped off at the cruise port. He asked what we would like to see and do. Since this was our first time to Funchal we asked for his recommendations, and that we did want to buy some wine. He did not disappoint. We saw some great sights, made several stops around the island. He took us to bar in a fishing town where we had some “poncha” and local wine. We were able to make a short shopping stop as well. Was a fantastic tour and we felt fortunate to have had such a great guide.
Response from the operator: Dear customer, thank you for sharing with us your experience. We look forward to having the opportunity to work with you in the future.

Great tour for our cruise stop
So glad we booked this tour. Was just the two of us. Our driver/guide, Ricardo, was absolutely fantastic. He tailored the tour to our needs, was friendly, and very informative. We got a wonderful overview of the island, with multiple stops to see sights, take pictures, and to purchase some wine to take home. We also stopped at a local bar and tasted wine and “poncha” - delicious!!! Ricardo picked us up and dropped us back off at our cruise port. He was there early and called us to let us know where to find him. Well worth the cost.
Response from the operator: Dear customer, thank you for sharing with us your experience. We look forward to having the opportunity to work with you in the future.

Why this scores 53
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Madeira Half Day Small-Group Tour from Funchal: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.
How much does Madeira Half Day Small-Group Tour from Funchal cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Madeira Half Day Small-Group Tour from Funchal take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.
Is Madeira Half Day Small-Group Tour from Funchal worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Madeira Half Day Small-Group Tour from Funchal?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Madeira Half Day Small-Group Tour from Funchal suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Madeira Half Day Small-Group Tour from Funchal?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Madeira Half Day Small-Group Tour from Funchal start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Funchal?
+
On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Funchal?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Funchal?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
