AVOID IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY
I would strongly advise caution before booking this tour based on my experience. During our Jeep tour, the vehicle began overheating, with visible smoke and a strong smell of petrol. Several passengers raised concerns about the condition of the vehicle, but we were initially told it was safe to continue. The Jeep was eventually stopped after passengers insisted. We were also told by the guide that the vehicle’s maximum capacity was 6 people, despite 7 paying participants being on board. Ultimately, 4 of the 7 passengers chose to leave because they no longer felt comfortable continuing in the vehicle. We had to arrange our own alternative transport and spent over €50 getting back. We also did not complete the itinerary we had paid for. I raised the situation with GetYourGuide and provided photographic evidence. Following their investigation, I was ultimately refunded. Unfortunately, there was a further issue following my complaint. After I posted a photograph of the Jeep on my personal Instagram from my holiday, members of the tour company located my account and commented publicly on the post regarding my complaint and the circumstances of the tour. I have attached screenshots of these comments. I was particularly disappointed by this, as I had simply raised concerns about my experience and followed the appropriate complaints process. GetYourGuide subsequently asked for the comments relating to the dispute to be removed. To be clear, I did not encourage anyone to leave the tour. The other passengers made their own decisions based on their concerns about the vehicle. My review is based solely on my personal experience and the evidence I have available. I am sharing this review so that other customers can make an informed decision before booking. In my experience, the vehicle condition, the incomplete itinerary, the additional cost of arranging alternative transport and the subsequent handling of my complaint significantly affected what should have been an enjoyable excursion. I would also like to make clear that this review does not reflect negatively on GetYourGuide. Although the complaint process took some time, GetYourGuide ultimately refunded me and were helpful in dealing with my concerns. I have provided photographs and screenshots as evidence and am happy for customers to make their own judgement based on the information provided.

Fantastic trip with Ride with Toni
My wife and I have a fabulous experience with Ride with Toni on a half day jeep tour from Fubchal. We started with the cable car ride from Funchal and the sliding whicker chair experience unique to Maderia down narrow roads. Both were great fun and we had a bonus of a great rainbow on the cable car ride. Paid a little extra to have a glass floor car and this added to the experience. The highlight of the trip was the drive up to the mountains in the vintage jeep. We had David as our guide and driver and we cannot praise him enough from his first warm welcome to his driving skills up and down unbelivably steep narrow roads he was very attentive and made us feel totally safe. Davids local knowledge was a great asset as had been raised in the regions we visited and shared his experiences that put the day to day life of the area into context. We really enjoyed the off road experience where we stood up in the jeep and followed David's perfectly timed warnings of when to duck when passing low branches! On the route back we stopped at a bar for a traditional Maderia drink of Poncha. We we recommended this tour by friends who had gone on one, we are exprienced travellers who have had many private tours and this was right up there as one of the best. Our thanks go out to David for all his efforts for making the day so enjoyable.

An unforgettable day with Toni
We had the most unforgettable day exploring the stunning island of Madeira with Toni as our guide. Every stop along the way left us breathless—from hidden beaches and crystal-clear sea swims to dramatic coastal landscapes that seemed straight out of a postcard. Just when we thought the day couldn't get any better, Toni led us to the most spectacular viewpoint imaginable. As we soaked in the panoramic beauty, we were treated to what Toni modestly called a "picnic"—but in reality, it was an exquisite feast. The flavors, the presentation, the care that went into every detail—it was nothing short of extraordinary. The table scraping at the end (a local custom we won’t spoil!) was the perfect finale to an already magical experience. This wasn’t just a tour; it was a day full of wonder, warmth, and unforgettable moments. Thank you, Toni—you made our trip to Madeira truly special.

Why this scores 71
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Madeira: 4x4 Jeep Adventure – Fanal, Skywalk & Pools: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.
How much does Madeira: 4x4 Jeep Adventure – Fanal, Skywalk & Pools cost?
+
Prices start at $83 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Madeira: 4x4 Jeep Adventure – Fanal, Skywalk & Pools take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.
Is Madeira: 4x4 Jeep Adventure – Fanal, Skywalk & Pools worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 28 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Madeira: 4x4 Jeep Adventure – Fanal, Skywalk & Pools?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Madeira: 4x4 Jeep Adventure – Fanal, Skywalk & Pools suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Madeira: 4x4 Jeep Adventure – Fanal, Skywalk & Pools?
+
Around 10 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Madeira: 4x4 Jeep Adventure – Fanal, Skywalk & Pools start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Funchal?
+
On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Funchal?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Funchal?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
