Outstanding guides and an incredible experience
I did the two-day Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu combo with Yapa Explorers in August as a solo traveller. An excellent tour. I learned a huge amount, met great people, and the two guides were the reason it was as good as it was. Day one in the Sacred Valley was a group of five with Edgar. He is a genuinely brilliant storyteller. His passion for the history is obvious within about thirty seconds, and he brought every site to life rather than reciting dates at us. Funny, engaging, and a real pleasure to spend a day with. A fantastic guide. Day two at Machu Picchu was just me and Samuel. Kind, patient, a little quiet at first, and then completely won me over. He picked me up from my hotel, walked me onto the bus, and made a 6am start feel effortless. As much as I hated the idea of 6am when I booked it, it is absolutely the right time to go. They had warned us the day before that it could be rainy or foggy. What actually happened was better than either. The fog sat over everything, then it lifted, the sun came up, and Machu Picchu kept appearing and disappearing through the cloud all morning. Genuinely mystical. Samuel took his time explaining the history of the site properly, and he knew exactly where to stand for photos, away from the overly touristy spots. The pictures he took of me are some of the best I have from the entire trip. That kind of thoughtfulness is not something you can put in a brochure. On the company: Yapa Explorers are extremely responsive on WhatsApp, before and during the trip. I found them through an AI recommendation while planning and took a chance on them. It was an excellent recommendation. Two pieces of constructive feedback: The briefings. They asked us into the office the day before the tour, and then wanted to meet again the evening before day two. I am a very experienced traveller and did not need either. Make them optional. The timings. There is a lot of dead time built in. On Saturday we somehow ran ahead of schedule and I sat at a train station for two hours, when I could simply have left two hours later that morning. On Sunday I had five hours of free time in Aguas Calientes, and Aguas Calientes is not the nicest or most fun town. Luckily I had a 90 minute massage and also enjoyed a lovely breakfast and lunch. Tightening the schedule would make a great trip even better. None of that would stop me recommending Yapa. Ask for Edgar or Samuel if you can.

Friendliness and professionalism of Marcelo and Samuel from Yapa Explorers
From the very beginning, our guide, Marcelo, made us feel comfortable with his friendly way to present things. During the visits of the sites Pisaq and Ollantaytambo, he explained everything very clearly and made proof not only of his knowledge by the good answers to our questions, but also of his good humor when he accompanied us to the excellent lunch restaurant. On the second day, Samuel was our guide for the visit of Machu Picchu. This magic site well deserves guides like him, who presented us the site with passion, background information, profound knowledge and reflection about Andean and other ancient cultures. Machu Picchu came back alive for us! Very positive, too, the good mix between guided tour and self exploration of the sites, perfect timings and organization, likely to be attributed to Yapa Explorers in general. Thank you, we will always recommend you!

Yapa Explorers and Primo provided the trip of a lifetime!
Our guide, Primo, was amazing. The hike up was challenging and he did a good job of managing our group which went at different speeds. His knowledge, sense of fun and energy was incredible. He brought so much to the trip beyond just logistic support (which was flawless from pick up, meals, hotel stay and the train and van back). His stories about the Inca’s, the Quechua’s, the Spanish and the discovery of Machu Picchu added so much to the experience. I highly recommend Yapa Explorers and Primo!

Elevated Machu Picchu experience!
Our guide to Machu Picchu, Samuel was very knowledgeable, accommodating, went above and beyond and took lots of great pictures. He also pointed out most of very important spots relating to Inca history.

Very well organised and helpful changing plans
Booking with yapa explorers was super easy. The tour that we did was very good. Although it probably is a lot cheaper doing the sacred valley not as a combo tour, it takes away a lot of the stress because they really do sort out everything for you so you don't have to worry about transport anywhere. We had 2 guides, 1 for the sacred valley called Primo who was very knowledgeable. He also took us to a llama and alpaca farm on the way to the sacred valley. Our other guide Javier took us to Machu Picchu early for 7am to try and beat the crowds. He was very helpful and made an effort to help us get to our Machu Picchu Mountain trek. We had a guy pick us up from aguas calientes train station and take us to the ticket office because, although we booked circuit 1A with yapa, we wanted to also do 2A separately (the popular one) and they helped us to book that. We changed our plans last minute because we initially wanted to spend an extra night there in case we couldn’t get a 2A ticket for the same day, but we managed to do it so they helped us change our return train last minute. Very helpful and responsive which I believe other companies may not be
