The Karnak Temple
As the largest temple complex in Egypt, in Karnak, a village about 2.5 km north of Luxor and directly on the eastern bank of the Nile. The oldest building remains of the temple still visible today come from the 12 dynasty under the Pharaoh Sesostris. Outstanding among the ruins are the Temples of Amun-Re with a total of ten pylons. The total area of the temple is about 30 hectares. The largest area of the temple complex is the Amun district. Among other things, you can see the holy lake, the red chapel, the white chapel as well as the alabaster chapel and the temple of Opet. Of course, there is a lot more to explore in the Karnak Temple.

The Colossi of Memnon are two colossal ancient Egyptian statues from the 14th century BC. You are in the Nile Valley not far from the Valley of the Kings in Thebes-West. The quartzite statues represent King Amenhotep III sitting on a throne. The statues are still around 18 meters high, including the base.

Great tour to Luxor with a private guide
We were picked up at the hotel at 4 a.m. by our two drivers. Arriving in Luxor, we picked up the German-speaking tour guide and Egyptologist Markus and then drove directly to the Temple of Karnak. There, Markus managed well to stop away from the large groups as much as possible and share a lot of interesting information with us. Next up was the visit to the Valley of the Kings. Tour guides are not allowed to talk inside the tombs themselves. Markus therefore always did that beforehand and then let us visit the tombs ourselves in peace. We relied completely on Markus here for which tombs we should look at, and as a result, we saved the additional costs for admission to, for example, the tomb of Tutankhamun. Afterwards, we also visited the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut and drove past the Colossi of Memnon. In our opinion, it was also perfectly sufficient to view them from the car. We then had a very delicious meal at a small, local restaurant. French fries were even made especially for the children. The food was very delicious and far away from typical tourist spots. To finish, there was a ride on a motorboat on the Nile. Here, too, we were on our own again, and our daughter was even allowed to steer the motorboat. Our guide Markus told us a lot about the history and legends as well as some very interesting facts. That was also interesting for the kids, e. G.: "How does a stone that weighs approx. 10 tons even get that far up, without a crane at all?" He also showed us what the hieroglyphs of the first letters of our names look like, and the kids were then able to look for where these can be found everywhere. It was also very interesting that the "stories" that Markus told, for example, in the Karnak Temple, were then also confirmed at the other sightseeing locations. There were no extra stops at sales events, as was promised to us in advance. And for the bathroom stop during the drive, the drivers chose very clean options. Thanks for this as well. **Tips:** * Take a pillow, a blanket, or a sweater with you so that you can sleep well in the car during the approx. 4-hour drive. * Drinks (water and cola) are available in sufficient quantities and chilled in the car. * We would definitely book a privately guided tour again. * We are also happy to recommend Markus as a tour guide. * Order a breakfast to go at the hotel the day before. An impressive day in Luxor
We contacted the agency before our vacation, and everything worked out great. Communication with the staff was fast and uncomplicated. The pickup worked perfectly. We were picked up from our hotel around 4:15 AM. The driver was very friendly. What is not mentioned here is that all tourists traveling to Luxor had to go to the police station in the morning. (Registration, pass control) After about half an hour of waiting, we really got going... That morning, we could also enjoy the partial lunar eclipse during the drive. After an hour, a short break was scheduled, then we continued. In Luxor, we met up with our guide "Markus". By 8:45, we were already at our first stop, "Karnak Temple". Markus explained the 30 dynasties of the pharaohs to us in great detail, as well as details about the history of the temple that are not mentioned in a normal tour! Markus also explained to us how to read the sign language of the Egyptians (it was really cool)... The second stop on the plan was the Valley of the Kings. Here, too, Markus again explained the different ruling styles and details about the burial sites in depth. We visited the tombs of Ramses IV, Merenptah, and Ramses III. Many people think that visiting the tombs at 40 degrees is too exhausting. Yes, it was, but since there was little to nothing going on, we were almost alone in the burial chamber. No pushing, no waiting, just enjoying it. As the third stop, we drove to the Hatshepsut Temple. Here, too, we were again impressed by our guide "Markus" and his knowledge. The lunch together and the boat trip on the Nile were the crowning finale of an impressive, eventful day. We would like to express our thanks once again to our guide "Markus" and our driver. The numerous police checkpoints on the way to Luxor and back, as well as the transport of a mobile phone from one police checkpoint to the next, rounded off the experience.

Exzellent Tour through the wonders of Upper Egypt
Very nice Trip, pefectly organized and the Guide individualized the tour to our preferences. All Tickets were per-purchased by the Guide, no waiting anywhere and we were always at the individual places when the big Tours were not there. The Guide selected nice and authentic egyptian restaurant for lunch, no mass-tourism buffet.

Day Trip to Luxor from El Quseir
We really enjoyed our day trip to Luxor. Our driver Wagdi was amazing and we were also really happy with our guide Daniel who was extremely knowledgeable and spoke good English and German which was perfect for us. The Programme was great and we enjoyed seeing the landscape inland on the journey and seeing it change as we got nearer the Nile, and learning about life in Luxor. The Valley of the Kings was the big highlight for us and we were amazed at how well preserved the tombs were and of course marcelled at all the hieroglyphics and paintings on the walls. The lovely boat trip on the Nile was a welcome chance to cool off and see the developments on the banks of the river, and the setting of the lunch restaurant was really nice - food was ok. It was a long, hot day from El Quseir (departing 3.45am and returning around 18.00) with a lot of driving, and our 10 year old son was tired in the afternoon and feeling the heat - I would recommend to others to take 2 days to see the sights and stay one night in Luxor if you can. We were very glad we booked a private trip so that we could go at our own pace - that also made lunch quicker so we got to the temples when they were less crowded. Sun and Fun Reisen were really flexible with the trip especially as we had to postpone it for a few days very last minute and it was no problem for them. We would definitely recommend Sun and Fun Reisen and your personnel in Egypt to others looking to do tours!

Great trip to Luxor
Mohamed Zidan - great guide really knowledgeable of the area and the history lots of great facts about not just the history of luxor but Egypt as a whole. Temperature was incredibly hot but air conditioned transport and drinks in a cooler really helped. Friendly and accommodating would definitely recommend
