Beautiful body of water but for one day only

Beautiful body of water but at least 2h30 drive from Tulum, (3h30 from Playa Del Carmen), if you want to sleep there, do not plan more than one night unless you only wish to "do nothing and admire the body of water. Los rapidos (The big attraction) is really very ordinary, nothing special to see there. If you wish to sail the body of water, I suggest the pontoon or kayak.

Response from the operator: Merci beaucoup d’avoir partagé votre avis avec nous.

    Pretty but....

The tour location itself was beautiful, but the ride there was uncomfortable. The bus felt overcrowded, almost like it had two extra rows of seats—I'm not particularly tall, but my knees were pressed up against the seat in front of me the entire time. Additionally, the pre-tour email advised bringing sunscreen, but failed to mention that sunscreen isn't allowed in Bacalar. Unfortunately, this led to us getting bad sunburns, which affected the rest of our trip.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent tour experience. We apologize for the discomfort you experienced during the ride to the tour location. We will look into optimizing our transportation arrangements to ensure more comfort for our passengers. Regarding the sunscreen issue, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We will make sure to clearly inform our customers about the biodegradable sunscreen requirement and the importance of applying it before arriving at the tour location. This way, we can minimize the risk of sunburns and ensure a more enjoyable experience for everyone. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back on another tour.

    Magical lagoon

This excursion is a very long drive from Tulum, but worth it. It’s not 5 stars because the journey is in an extremely cramped minibus. It is not designed for adults. 4 of us were cramped in the back seat with no leg room. Actual Bacalar and the tour on the boat was divine. The waters truly do display 7 colours, and Capitano Andreas was very knowledgable with facts about the lagoon, the cenotes and the stromatolites. This was totally worth it, and the weather was perfect. Lunch after was delicious, and the beers and juices complemented it beautifully.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We’re glad to hear that, despite the long journey, Bacalar and the beautiful boat tour made it all worthwhile. The colors of the lagoon are truly mesmerizing, and we’re thrilled that Captain Andreas helped make the experience memorable with his knowledge of the lagoon’s unique ecosystem. It sounds like lunch was the perfect end to a lovely day. We apologize for the discomfort in the minibus, and we appreciate your feedback as we work to improve our guests’ travel comfort. Thank you again for joining us, and we’d love to welcome you back for more unforgettable experiences!

    Lovely Bacalar: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tulum.

How much does Lovely Bacalar cost?

    +

Prices start at $149 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tulum usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Lovely Bacalar take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tulum is not rushed.

    Is Lovely Bacalar worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tulum, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Lovely Bacalar?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Lovely Bacalar suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Lovely Bacalar?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tulum can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tulum and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Lovely Bacalar start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tulum within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tulum?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tulum experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tulum Ruins, Turtles in Akumal and Cenote tour, Tulum Guided Tour, Magical Cenote, Lagoon Snorkeling and Beachside Lunch, Chichén Itzá, Cenote and Valladolid with Lunch and transportation. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tulum?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tulum?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
