    Great experience

Wonderful experience. Remy's knowledge of mezcal is a great guide for the experience, especially if you are not familiar with the spirit. The relationship with the families of artisans and mezcal masters spans many years and they welcome you into their workshops and distilleries with a very unique affection. Oaxaca is a state to be experienced hand-in-hand with experiences like Bakuza's.

    Excellent experience

Remy is an excellent guide! He has great knowledge about mezcal and the processes used to make it. We learned a lot from him and from the experience. The best part of all is that we were able to meet the people who make the mezcal.

    An Authentic, Soul-Stirring Mezcal Experience

If you are looking to truly understand the spirit of Oaxaca, look no further than a tour with Remy. I cannot recommend him highly enough—this was, without a doubt, the highlight of my trip. What sets Remy apart is his profound knowledge of the craft and his genuine respect for the maestro mezcaleros. When you book with him, you aren’t just a tourist; you are welcomed into the family. You’ll find yourself sitting at their tables, sharing a delicious homemade meal, and listening to the personal stories and trials of these dedicated, small-batch producers. It is a rare, intimate look at the heart of the industry that you simply won't find on a standard tour. The experience can be overwhelming given the sheer amount of information and history involved, but Remy has a gift for making it easy and digestible. He is incredibly accommodating, always ensuring the day is tailored to what you want to get out of it. The Highlights • The Variety: You will get to sample an incredible array of destilados (mezcals infused with fruits, flowers, and herbs) and rare silvestres. • The Process: If you are as lucky as I was, you might even witness a tapada—the traditional process of covering the agave piñas to begin the slow roasting in the earth. More Than Just Mezcal Beyond the tour itself, Remy is an incredible resource. Once you start speaking with him, you’ll be amazed by the other unique experiences he can facilitate. I personally took advantage of his local connections to purchase one of the most delicious, single-origin medium roast coffee I’ve ever had. This was procured from a small-batch coffee farmer. Don’t hesitate to book with Remy. It will undeniably make your time in Oaxaca a much richer and more fulfilling one.

Unforgettable Mezcal, Textile and Gastronomy Adventure!!

This was such a personal, unforgettable tour of Oaxaca’s rich Mezcal heritage! All along the tour we saw large commercial Mezcal “factories”, but what makes this tour unique is the opportunity to visit a home, share a home-cooked meal, even participate in making that meal!! The variety of Mezcal one gets to taste is as unforgettable as the vibrant colors weaved together with such passion and care at the textile stop that comes in the tour. Can’t miss this adventure - you could write a whole article on the tastes, flavors, colors, sounds, smells and tales that one experiences along the way!!

Highlight of my trip to Oaxaca!

This tour was the highlight of my trip to Oaxaca! Rem was so helpful beforehand was very responsive for questions and planning. He was very flexible with pickup at our hotel and with changing the number of guests and accommodated us all and even brought refreshments and a nice clean and fancy van for our group. He's very knowledgeable about Oaxaca, mezcal, textiles and more. He's a lovely human being and so were all the people we visited from the family owned mezcal distilleries to the textile business. Bring extra pesos because you will surely want to leave with some beautiful and tasty memorabilia! Thank you Rem for a memory that will last a lifetime. Worth every peso and more!!!

Live the Oaxaca Deep Mezcal and Gastronomy and Textiles: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oaxaca City.

How much does Live the Oaxaca Deep Mezcal and Gastronomy and Textiles cost?

    +

Prices start at $500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oaxaca City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Live the Oaxaca Deep Mezcal and Gastronomy and Textiles take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oaxaca City is not rushed.

Is Live the Oaxaca Deep Mezcal and Gastronomy and Textiles worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oaxaca City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Live the Oaxaca Deep Mezcal and Gastronomy and Textiles?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Live the Oaxaca Deep Mezcal and Gastronomy and Textiles suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Live the Oaxaca Deep Mezcal and Gastronomy and Textiles?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oaxaca City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oaxaca City and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Live the Oaxaca Deep Mezcal and Gastronomy and Textiles start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oaxaca City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Oaxaca City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Oaxaca City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include AUTHENTIC OAXACA CULTURAL FOOD TOUR, eat like a local., Hierve el Agua 2.5 hours, Mitla, Tule, Rugs and Mezcal for a Day, Traditional Oaxaqueña Cooking with Grandma's Recipes. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Oaxaca City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Oaxaca City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
