What you'll see and do
Miradouro Das Portas Do Sol
The story of Lisbon is inseparable from the river, that large gateway to the Atlantic ocean. This square is a perfect starting point to explore the city as it offers sweeping views over the Castle Hill and the Old Town framed by the broad mouth of the Tagus river.
15 minutes here
Miradouro de Santa Luzia
The happy coexistence of exquisite ceramic tiles (azulejos) from different ages and styles in the two platforms of this balcony is a very good metaphor of Lisbon (mixed) identity.
15 minutes here
Igreja de Santiago
Admire the Baroque St James church, where the Portuguese "Camino" to the holy city of Compostela stars, but explore also quaint Largo do Contador, with residential houses prior to the 1755 tsunami
15 minutes here
Beco do Recolhimento
Explore the residential half of The Castle of St. George, including the brand new Recolhimento garden and belvedere, opened to east side of town
20 minutes here
Museu de Lisboa - Teatro Romano
Ruins of the first monument properly built in Lisbon under Caesar Augustus rule (end of the first century BC), expanded in AD 57, when it was dedicated to Nero. Buried and forgotten, the archeological site was only reopened to the public in 2015.
10 minutes here
Lisbon Cathedral
First and only remaining Romanesque monument in town, the Lisbon Cathedral is half a church, half a fortress. Some say it's almost a new medieval cathedral, as it was radically rebuilt in the 30's of the 20th century.
20 minutes here
Church of St. Anthony
Tradition says this church was built on top of the room where Saint Anthony was born. That room is now the crypt of the church (rebuilt after the 1755 tsunami), one of the most popular in Lisbon. But is St. Anthony or St. Vincent the Lisbon favorite saint?
15 minutes here
Lapides das Pedras Negras
Amazing Roman tombstones embedded on the walls of a XVIII century residential building
10 minutes here
Praca do Comercio
Lisbon finest square is open to the river (and the sea) and was completely rebuilt after the 1755 tsunami like a theatrical setting. Admire the Column Pier, King José statue and the monumental Arch, plus the many events staged all year round on the square.

One of the finest facades in the late Portuguese Gothic style, full of Royal symbols, Grotescos and Esoteric suggestions

Beautiful memories of Lisboa
My daughter and I had a wonderful time on our Private Walking Tour of Lisbon with Luis. He was an excellent guide and was very considerate of my limited mobility. Luis was very informative, knowledgeable, and spoke English very well. We learned so much about Lisbon and Portugal from Luis and came away with beautiful photos and memories. HIghly recommend this tour with Luis!
Response from the operator: A genuine desire to explore and discover, an amazing ability to memorize even the smallest details, inexhaustible friendliness and openness - I will remember for a long time these visitors who gave me the privilege of showing them (another) Lisbon. Thank you so much!

Extremely knowledgeable and flexible.
Luis was the perfect guide for my wife and me. He was easy going, completely flexible, and personable. Having grown up here from childhood, his knowledge of the entire area is deep, especially about history. We were privileged to be with him for three wonderful days. We recommend him highly!
Response from the operator: I thank you for your sympathy and understanding, your incredible voluntarism. This, in addition to the energy and the inexhaustible desire to know more.

Excellent!
What a wonderful trip. We learned so much about Lisbon from Luis. So knowledgeable on the history. Highly recommend his tours.
Response from the operator: You and your friends made me spend a wonderful morning in the old streets of Lisbon. You are the proof that not all tourists are equal and that it is still worth, perhaps more than ever, to share the city with those who know how to travel.

Secret Food Tour
Mariana was a fabulous tour guide. We tried several different foods, wine and desserts while touring different neighborhoods. She had extensive knowledge of Lisbon’s history and culture. Highly recommend a tour with Mariana.

Excellent Lisbon walking tour
We communicated with this operator well before we left Canada. The timeliness of his communication was excellent, and very timely. A few days before the tour, he made sure we were aware it might rain, and to be prepared with a coat and umbrella. He also gave us great instructions on where to meet. Luiz was waiting in the planned spot 15 minutes early. Hi tour was extremely informative, with a lot of Lisbon history. He gives you the opportunity to go here or there, very flexible. I highly recommend. ps since the tour he has given us recommendations for numerous places to eat.
Response from the operator: What a careful and detailed review, I am really impressed. Thank you very much. I must say you are exceptional travelers and it was a pleasure and a privilege to be your guide. Better would probably be impossible, especially on a Friday the 13th!

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Lisbon Off The Beaten Track and Main Sights Private Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Lisbon Off The Beaten Track and Main Sights Private Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Lisbon Off The Beaten Track and Main Sights Private Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Lisbon Off The Beaten Track and Main Sights Private Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Lisbon Off The Beaten Track and Main Sights Private Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Lisbon Off The Beaten Track and Main Sights Private Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Lisbon Off The Beaten Track and Main Sights Private Walking Tour?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Lisbon Off The Beaten Track and Main Sights Private Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
