What you get

    About this experience

Imagine sailing on Amsterdam’s canals on a private boat tour. You see the iconic canal houses and bridges. You hear the sound of the water against the side of the boat. You are also witnessing over 24 light artworks from up close. Every year in winter 24 light installations are scattered across the canals waiting to be discovered. Will you explore them with us? This private tour on Amsterdam’s canals on a quiet, heated boat will give you a front-row seat to the 10th annual Light Festival. The artworks are best viewed from the water. This boat cruise helps communicate the message of the pieces. Your guides have a background in art and personal contact with some of the artists featured in the past years. See the festival the best way possible and hear an insider’s perspective only available to our team. This tour is ideal for couples or groups of up to 12.

    A marvellous evening cruise

My partner (now 'fiancée') and I had a fantastic experience! We were able to experience the Amsterdam light festival, and thoroughly enjoyed being guided through the city in tranquility. Thank you again!

Response from the operator: Hello Isaac, Congratulations to you both on your recent engagement. We were very happy to host you both and pleased to hear that you enjoyed sailing during the beautiful Amsterdam light festival. Thank you so much for choosing us to host your magical moment. We can't wait to welcome you back in the near future. With love, Linda

    Intimate and cosy boat trip

Great tour through the prettiest part of Amsterdam. The host was relaxed and enthusiastic, he knew a lot about both the area and about the art pieces. The cushions were heated and there were blankets so even in the cold and rain we were warm and very cosy. He put the best Dutch snacks on the table: stroopwafels, Dutch cheese amongst other things. The boat is small and quiet so the setting was really intimate, way more romantic then the big noisy boats we saw on the way. Very good pick!

Response from the operator: Hello Myrthe, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your recent experience with us. We are thrilled to hear that you had a great time on the tour. We appreciate the kind words and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future. With love, Linda

    Informative and relaxing tour

Very relaxing experience, great guide, very informative. The boat was just perfect for our group of 7, small enough to be cosy, big enought to have comortable space. Overall super experience.

Response from the operator: Dear guest, Thank you for the 5-star review! We're thrilled you had an enjoyable experience on the cozy boat with your guide and group. I am glad that this tour met y our expectations. We were thrilled to host you on our tour. Hope to serve you again soon! With love, Linda

    Great trip

We did the Amsterdam Light Tour with family and friends. The heated seats were very comfortable. Rocco moves the boat (electric and noiseless!) very smoothly through the canals. He tunes in very well to the guests when he tells his story. And he ensures that all guests, whether they are seated on the left or right, can clearly see the light objects.

Response from the operator: Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your review. It is great to read that you had a great time with your family and friends on our canal tour. We love meeting and showing our magical city off to our customers, whether they are newcomers or locals. There is always something new to discover. Amsterdam has an abundance of Magic. Thank you for joining us on our canal tour. Until we meet again, next time. With love, Rocco

Light‌ ‌Festival‌ ‌Private‌ ‌Cruise‌ incl Snacks and hot Gluhwein: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Amsterdam.

How much does Light‌ ‌Festival‌ ‌Private‌ ‌Cruise‌ incl Snacks and hot Gluhwein cost?

    +

Prices start at $307 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Amsterdam usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Light‌ ‌Festival‌ ‌Private‌ ‌Cruise‌ incl Snacks and hot Gluhwein take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Amsterdam is not rushed.

Is Light‌ ‌Festival‌ ‌Private‌ ‌Cruise‌ incl Snacks and hot Gluhwein worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Amsterdam, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Light‌ ‌Festival‌ ‌Private‌ ‌Cruise‌ incl Snacks and hot Gluhwein?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Light‌ ‌Festival‌ ‌Private‌ ‌Cruise‌ incl Snacks and hot Gluhwein suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Light‌ ‌Festival‌ ‌Private‌ ‌Cruise‌ incl Snacks and hot Gluhwein?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Amsterdam can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Amsterdam and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Light‌ ‌Festival‌ ‌Private‌ ‌Cruise‌ incl Snacks and hot Gluhwein start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Amsterdam within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Amsterdam?

    +

On Outty we rank every Amsterdam experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Amsterdam Canal Cruise with Local Guide and Small Group, Guided Bike Tour of Amsterdam's Highlights & Hidden Gems, Amsterdam: Luxury Canal Cruise including Cocktails & Snacks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Amsterdam?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Amsterdam?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
