    Inedible experience overall!

Wow! What a memorable day and unforgettable adventure! Everything went very smoothly. In hindsight I'd recommend they give updates right when you board that the agenda and snacks won't start until everyone's on the bus which took nearly an hour. I just thought we were going to be sitting in silence for 4 hours. Once we were done picking folks up, guide Delfin passed out snacks which were great. An apple, juice, a ham and cheese sandwich and a granola bar. He then went over the agenda for the day. I did not remember how many cool things were included!! There is thankfully a bathroom on board. Just know the TP is behind the toilet seat so easy to miss. That could be designed better. Watch your head entering the bathroom! I hit mine scooting in. Otherwise the bus and ride were very comfortable and AC was great! Some folks were a bit chilly so maybe bring a small blanket or a hoodie to cover up with. The salt lake was unbelievable. Unreal once inside. From the outside and certain angles it was hard to see pink but then you walk a few steps and truly breathtaking! And the photos! I so appreciate the tour guide's help with that inside! She was great! The crocodile cruise was cool. We saw 2 crocodiles in the water which was neat though I did feel a bit bad that we were disturbing their peace when boats surrounded them. We only saw a few flamingos and the boat ride was a bit longer than expected. Several of us were getting very hungry so that part could have been a bit shorter. The stop off the boat to get in the water and try the mud bath was so cool! I have a skincare business and loved how the mask felt. The lunch was excellent as well. You have options to choose between chicken, fish and a seafood salad similar to a ceviche. Everything looked great. The seafood salad was wonderful, portions were very generous and the staff were great. It would have been awesome to have a combo option offered because everything sounded great. Drinks are extra so I would have appreciated even a lemonade option included. One thought several of us had is that the town we stopped in for the mud baths off the boat was so cute that it would have been really lovely if lunch were arranged there so we could eat with the beautiful turquoise blue views. Next to seeing the actual pink Lakes my favorite part of the day was the final stop at the crocodile farm and getting to see the baby crocodiles hatch. That was unbelievable! One of the coolest things I've ever seen! And I loved that they were encouraging of people taking photos and videos throughout the day. Really an exceptional experience all around. My only suggestion would be to add a little element of fun to the bus ride, a few stories about the area and perhaps some music. People mostly kept to themselves, there was no music or entertainment or storytelling on the ride which made 4 hours feel very long. I would also love if they would incorporate even one midway stop at some sort of a convenience store for people to stretch their legs and buy snacks or drinks. Thankfully there were a few other singles on the trip and we made friends which was great. I definitely recommend this tour hands down, just make sure you have music or something to entertain yourself. By the way we did great at avoiding mosquitoes all day until the crocodile farm. Thankfully Delfin was kind enough to smack them off of me but I do recommend the spray because they were pretty obnoxious there. It was still well worth it because the whole experience was just so memorable! This definitely makes it to the top two most beautiful places I've ever visited. I might even say the top if it weren't so crowded. Just letting in so many big groups at a time distracted from getting to really enjoy the serenity of it all and I would have loved some private time just to sit, look out over the water and journal or think. You get about 30 minutes inside the Pink Lake with the group and I definitely did not want to miss out on any of the wonderful photo opps. You literally walk two feet over and the view is completely different. It's like magic on Earth!

Response from the operator: Para esta reseña sí conviene hacer una excepción sutil: mantener la respuesta pública breve y profesional, pero añadir un agradecimiento especial porque la clienta fue extraordinariamente generosa con el nivel de detalle, incluso al señalar mejoras de forma constructiva. Yo respondería así: Calling Las Coloradas “magic on Earth” and placing it among the most beautiful places you’ve ever visited is the kind of description that future travelers will remember. We design this full-day experience to blend nature, wildlife and smooth logistics across the Yucatán Peninsula, and we truly appreciate how thoughtfully you shared both the highlights and the small details that could make the journey even better. Delfin will be especially glad to know his kindness and attention stood out throughout the day, from the snacks and guidance to those unexpected mosquito rescues. Your feedback about communication on the bus, timing, comfort and the experience at Río Lagartos is genuinely valuable to us. A very special thank you for taking the time to describe the day with such warmth, honesty and care — guests like you make our work especially rewarding. Thank you for sharing such a memorable experience with Tourballoon Travel!

Stunning pink lake and beautiful flamingoes during the boat ride

Although a bit far from Cancun, the pink lake is really nice and worth visiting, especially with yesterday's perfect clear sky. Also the boat ride is really interesting and crocs and pink flamingoes are enjoying themselves in such comfortable clear water. Hugging and feeding baby crocs are much easier than expected. In summary, with good arrangements and nice people, we have a very happy day.

Response from the operator: Seeing the pink lakes under a perfectly clear sky and then encountering flamingos and crocodiles during the Río Lagartos boat ride makes the journey from Cancún feel especially rewarding. We design this full-day experience to blend nature, wildlife and smooth logistics across the Yucatán Peninsula, creating a well-organized and enjoyable way to discover this unique region. We’re delighted that the wildlife encounters and friendly atmosphere helped make it such a happy and memorable day. Thank you for sharing your experience with Tourballoon Travel!

    Different side of Mexico

This tour was a nice break from the beach routine. Las Coloradas looked unreal in person and Rio Lagartos felt quiet and natural compared with Cancun. Angel kept our small group relaxed and the boat part was our favorite. We made a great photo album with the best pics from the trip. The Yucatan definitely deserves all our appreciation. It felt like the kind of place most people miss when the only stay near the hotel.

Response from the operator: Stepping away from the beach to discover the pink lakes of Las Coloradas and the peaceful nature of Río Lagartos reveals a side of the Yucatán that many travelers never get to experience. We design this full-day journey to blend nature, wildlife and smooth logistics across the region, creating memorable moments both on land and on the water. Angel will be glad to know his relaxed approach helped make the day even more enjoyable, and we’re happy this experience became one of the highlights of your travel photo album. Dreamy tour to Las Coloradas

We visited the famous Las Coloradas lakes, which are seriously pink! The boat trip through the Rio Lagarto mangroves was incredible. We saw so many animals, like stepping into a wildlife documentary! We finished the day with a mud bath. Plus the mud is supposed to be amazing for your skin... This tour was well worth the money... transportation was comfortable and the food was delicious.

Response from the operator: Watching the vibrant pink lakes, cruising through the Río Lagartos mangroves surrounded by wildlife and finishing the day with a traditional Mayan clay bath creates the kind of adventure that stays with travelers long after they return home. We design this full-day experience to blend nature, wildlife and smooth logistics across the Yucatán Peninsula, making every stop both enjoyable and memorable. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the comfortable transportation, delicious food and the overall value of the experience. Thank you for sharing your experience with Tourballoon Travel!

absolutely terrible tour for those staying in Cancun.

If you are picked up in Cancun, the tour stops at Playa del Carmen on the way there and back. Since a single bus covers both departure points, those starting from Cancun end up wasting four hours on the road round trip. This tour is absolutely terrible for those staying in Cancun. Time is precious when traveling.

Response from the operator: We understand how valuable time is during a trip, especially when staying in Cancun, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective. This experience operates as a shared tour covering multiple pickup zones, including Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Because of this, a combined route is necessary, which naturally increases travel time for some guests. Due to the distance, the total duration typically ranges between 12 to 14 hours, including travel time. We make a conscious effort to clearly communicate this in advance so travelers can make an informed decision based on timing and logistics. Many guests still choose this experience for the value it offers and the destinations included, but we do recognize that this format may not be ideal for everyone. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps provide additional clarity for future travelers.

Las Coloradas Pink Lake & Rio Lagartos Guided Tour + Entry Fees: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tulum.

How much does Las Coloradas Pink Lake & Rio Lagartos Guided Tour + Entry Fees cost?

    +

Prices start at $142 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tulum usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Las Coloradas Pink Lake & Rio Lagartos Guided Tour + Entry Fees take?

    +

Plan for about 12.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tulum is not rushed.

Is Las Coloradas Pink Lake & Rio Lagartos Guided Tour + Entry Fees worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 76 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 111 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tulum, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Las Coloradas Pink Lake & Rio Lagartos Guided Tour + Entry Fees?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Las Coloradas Pink Lake & Rio Lagartos Guided Tour + Entry Fees suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Las Coloradas Pink Lake & Rio Lagartos Guided Tour + Entry Fees?

    +

Around 39 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tulum can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tulum and add a light layer if any part of the 12.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Las Coloradas Pink Lake & Rio Lagartos Guided Tour + Entry Fees start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tulum within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tulum?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tulum experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tulum Ruins, Turtles in Akumal and Cenote tour, Tulum Guided Tour, Magical Cenote, Lagoon Snorkeling and Beachside Lunch, Chichén Itzá, Cenote and Valladolid with Lunch and transportation. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tulum?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tulum?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
