    Mixed feeling

Feeling is quite mixed. I would go through some of the tour parts: 1). The tour check-in was terrible. I had been waiting 15 mins before the designated time and waited further 15 mins. Still my name wasn’t called. The office was chaotic. Everyone on different tours were all packed inside. The guide would just yell names to see if they get someone on their list. In my case, fortunately I am cautious enough to ask. The tour guide was checking in wrong names, so then I was able to catch up. If i have not been asking I missed the tour. 2). Ice fishing part - fun at first, but you have to endure the -20 degrees. Besides, the chance of getting a fish is so low. The experience is more like getting a picture of you doing the fishing more than getting a real fish. So this part doesn’t last long and i guess our guide knows it and he’s kind enough to guide us to the meal. 3). Memorable part - Salmon cooked in fire. That’s a real delicacy. And the smoked mashmallow was a bonus. If you haven’t done ice fishing before i would recommend it. But in January don’t place your expectation high. Chill and relax, just as our guide said. Overall, i hated the part they checked in guests. That chaos should not have happened. That’s how i rated.

    Great Experience

The guide picked us up at our hotel, and stopped by the office in the city centre to change into thermal suits and picked up the snow shoes. We then went to a lake 30 minutes away for the ice fishing and snow shoeing. It was the first time snow shoeing for us, and it was fun, mainly it helped us to walk easier as that day the snow was quite thick, without the snow shoes, it could go up to our knees. The guide taught us how to ice fish, from drilling holes to using a rod. And we were really lucky that day, we managed to catch a fish! Afterwards, we had grilled salmon and marshmallow in a tent, the salmon was quite good, just that 1 salmon out of the 6 we got was burnt and could not really be eaten. Still, we were satisfied with this trip :)

    Something fun to do !

Activity combining icefishing and a 20 minutes snowshoe walk in the woods, lunch by the fire with salmon/bread and marshmallows. Informative training on how to drill the ice and fish. Nice staffs. From my understanding, it's rather rare to catch fish. More like a fun try. Duration a bit long though.

Response from the operator: Dear sandrinew549, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the combination of ice fishing, the snowshoe walk, and lunch by the fire. It’s always wonderful to know our guests appreciate the efforts of our team and the unique activities we offer. You’re right that catching a fish can be rare—it does depend a bit on luck! That said, there are certainly times when our guests succeed, and we hope you still enjoyed learning the process and giving it a try. We also appreciate your comment about the duration and will review this aspect to ensure the experience remains enjoyable for everyone. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, and it helps us improve every day. We hope to welcome you back for more adventures in the future! Warm regards,

    Ice fishing with Ryan D

We had Ryan D as our guide for the ice fishing tour. He was very attentive and explained all that needed to be done. We were on a lake in a winter wonderland! We did not manage to catch any fish but Ryan treated us to a very good lunch of salmon Cooked over an open fire

Lapland Ice Fishing Experience from Rovaniemi: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rovaniemi.

How much does Lapland Ice Fishing Experience from Rovaniemi cost?

    +

Prices start at $117 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rovaniemi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Lapland Ice Fishing Experience from Rovaniemi take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rovaniemi is not rushed.

Is Lapland Ice Fishing Experience from Rovaniemi worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rovaniemi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Lapland Ice Fishing Experience from Rovaniemi?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Lapland Ice Fishing Experience from Rovaniemi suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Lapland Ice Fishing Experience from Rovaniemi?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rovaniemi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rovaniemi and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Lapland Ice Fishing Experience from Rovaniemi start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rovaniemi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rovaniemi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Rovaniemi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Rovaniemi: Guaranteed Viewing & Unlimited Mileage, Rovaniemi: Korouoma Canyon & Frozen Waterfalls Tour with BBQ, Rovaniemi:%100 Guaranteed Northern Lights Hunt&Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rovaniemi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rovaniemi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
