Unforgettable experience with Lucas and Bob

Truly excellent service!!!! LuCAS and Bob our guides made the tour an unforgettable experience. They are divine!! The tour and the company are highly recommended. 👌 We liked that they had very prepared where they took us (a super wide frozen lake) instead of stopping on the sides of the road looking for the aurora....keeping that in mind is important

Without being able to see the dawn

Sadly we could not see the aurora because the weather did not allow it, for that reason we could not enjoy the walk more but thanks to the fact that we had a very good guide, a Spanish girl named Silvia, we were able to enjoy the place and take it as a new experience.

Terrible and Unprofessional Tour, terrible service!

We signed up for the Lakeside Aurora Paparazzi Photography tour with Sunny, and they initially were very communicative. We were picked up in town and after getting some others, went to their warehouse to give some people snowsuits. This is the point that the tour went down hill. We were all dressed and ready to go, when someone came over and told us that they forgot to pick up someone from another tour, and because of this, we had to wait with these other guests instead of departing on our own tour! We sat at the warehouse for 30 mins while the company went and got someone else... Finally after we can finally leave, i see that other friends of our are posting about seeing the aurora at a particular lake. I tell the guide about this, and give him the exact location. He tells us thats where we are going too... except it wasnt. the company gave hime a different address and we drove 40 mins to a location just to get out and be told we were in the wrong place! we then got back in the van and drove 30 mins back where we came from to go to a tourist pull over spot on a lake facing to the SOUTH!!! How are we supposed to see the northern lights when only looking to the south!?? It was abundantly obvious that this group only goes to two spots and never changes the routine, even if the lights arent there. THEN we find out that our guide doesnt even have a camera!!! we booked the PAPARAZZI PHOTOGRAPHY tour, but they didnt provide him with a camera!!! we then get back in the van and drive north back to a lake at the same spot we were before, to meet with another group so we can use their camera. I will say, even though we were scheduled to depart at this point, the guides ignored their corporate requests to go back and stayed an extra hour or two to hopefully see the auroras with us. We saw a haze through the clouds, but that was it. Sunny Safari completely blew our only chance to see them during our trip. When I went to the office to complain about the service and multiple delays, the people behind the desk told me that they would not do anything for us, and refused to give me the contact info for a manager/owner. They said that they were going to fire the guide, and nothing was their fault. It starting getting heated, when i decidced to leave and leave this review. I thought they might want to make it up to us for the terrible experience, but they clearluy do not care about the customer once they have your money.

    Limited communication

I was placed under the guidance of Chinese guide person though I am not Chinese, can't speak and understand Chinese at all. Hence it was quite disappointing. Luckily there was couple from Hong Kong, managed to translate few important things only. I understand that aurora is natural phenomenon which has probability for sighting or not sighting at all. If you want to explore and enjoy aurora at its wild please pick another company as the company has base camp and wouldn't move to another location to seek another aurora location.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. About the guiding service, the guide will speak English if the clients don't speak same languages. The situation you said is because some customers request for Chinese Languages, but I think the guide would also provided you with English Services, cus he needs to take care of all of you. Secondly, about the location. We have also the Aurora Hunting Trip which will change to several different places for searching the aurora, this is another tour with the name-'Aurora Hunting by Minibus Small Group'. For all the companies are the same, staying at one place, or changing to different places (the price is different). By the way, for the tour only staying at one fixed place, we have our privacy base as the aurora searching ground, which is not like the public places where anyone could go and use. This is also our advantage of the tour, and the reason why many clients would like to book from us for several times. Sure there are still many aspects need to be improved, and thank you again for your feedback, we will try our best to make our team and the whole system works better and better. At the meantime, we are always trying to satisfy all the clients, doing our best to give all of you a tour with good experiences & memories. Hope you could understand and best wishes for you :)

Great spot and photos but not the most well-organised

The Northern Lights were incredible and we so appreciated being able to get good photos since we only had our phones! There was a lot of wasted time at the beginning of the night due to some organisation issues within the company but the rest of the night was good. Great cabin and spot on the lake for aurora viewing, and delicious snacks on the barbecue.

Lakeside Aurora’s Paparazzi Photography: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rovaniemi.

How much does Lakeside Aurora’s Paparazzi Photography cost?

    +

Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rovaniemi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Lakeside Aurora’s Paparazzi Photography take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rovaniemi is not rushed.

Is Lakeside Aurora’s Paparazzi Photography worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.2/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rovaniemi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Lakeside Aurora’s Paparazzi Photography?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Lakeside Aurora’s Paparazzi Photography suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Lakeside Aurora’s Paparazzi Photography?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rovaniemi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rovaniemi and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Lakeside Aurora’s Paparazzi Photography start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rovaniemi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rovaniemi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Rovaniemi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Rovaniemi: Guaranteed Viewing & Unlimited Mileage, Rovaniemi: Korouoma Canyon & Frozen Waterfalls Tour with BBQ, Rovaniemi:%100 Guaranteed Northern Lights Hunt&Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rovaniemi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rovaniemi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
