It is a fun way to learn...

It is a fun way to learn about the culture, from shopping in the market with Joanna to cooking in the kitchen with her experienced mother, Corinna. The dishes were made with simple fresh ingredients with so much flavour. I wish I could captured that smell with my camera when I took the photos! I always want to try catapalan. However, most of the restaurants only offer the dish for 2 people. Now I learned how to make it!

Response from the operator: Dear Florence, Thank you so much for visiting The Kitchen and for joining our Market Visit & Cataplana Cooking Class. It was such a pleasure to share this experience with you. We absolutely loved your comment about wishing you could capture the smell through the photos — that made us smile! And now you can finally make cataplana at home whenever you want. Don’t forget to send us photos when you do! Wishing you a wonderful stay in Portugal, amazing Portuguese food and plenty of Portuguese wine. Best wishes, Joana Glória

Best cooking class in the Algarve!

We had a wonderful time shopping at the fresh market for our fish and mussels, then cooking! Jo, her mom and team were amazing! We learned so much, took part in preparing the dishes and then enjoying them. Such a friendly and welcoming experience, will definitely book again!

Response from the operator: Dear Suzanne, Thank you so much for visiting The Kitchen and for joining our Market Visit & Fish Cooking Class! We’re so happy you enjoyed selecting fresh ingredients at the market and taking part in the full cooking experience with our team. It means a lot to hear you felt welcomed and learned so much along the way. Wishing you a wonderful stay in Portugal, amazing Portuguese food and plenty of Portuguese wine. Best wishes, Joana Glória

    The best cooking class experience

Great class and overall experience! The market visit was really fun seeing our fish chopped up, the kitchen space was bright and cheerful, and the chefs were lovely. We did the seafood class making easy-ish seafood dishes (shrimp, clams, a one-pot rice and fish dish with monkfish, and a passion fruit mousse) that I can actually see us replicating at home. My mom, daughter and I always try to do a cooking class on our annual multi-generational girls trip and this one was the best. Loved it! Would have done a 2nd if we were here longer- highly recommend!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely and thoughtful review! We’re absolutely delighted to hear that you, your mom, and your daughter had such a great time with us – what a special tradition to share across generations, and we’re honored that The Kitchen was part of it this year. Filipa, along with our wonderful interns Gabi and Lara, truly enjoyed welcoming you for the seafood class. It’s always a pleasure to host guests who are curious, engaged, and full of good energy – and it’s fantastic to know you feel confident enough to recreate the dishes at home. That’s exactly what we hope for! The market visit is always a highlight, and the connection with Senhor Lopes, our trusted fishmonger, makes it even more special. Everyone loves seeing the fish selected and prepared right in front of them – it brings the experience to life before we even start cooking! We’d love to welcome you back anytime – perhaps next time for a different cooking class! Thank you again for your kind words and for sharing your experience with others. Warmest wishes from all of us at The Kitchen, Joana, Filipa, Gabi & Lara

    +

What should I bring or wear?

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lagos?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lagos?

    +
