This is a waste of money if you're just looking to not get lost. There's no clear access code on the ticket and who is going to spend time on contacting support when you can clearly see where you need to go right in front of you.
Response from the operator: Thanks for the feedback. The access code is included in the confirmation email you receive from Viator under the “Important – Please Read” section. We also send reminder messages through Viator three days before and again the day before to help make access easier. The experience isn’t meant as a navigation tool; it’s designed to share the history, stories, and people who shaped La Jolla as you walk past some of the notable landmarks and viewpoints. We’re sorry the access instructions weren’t easier to locate, and we appreciate you giving it a try.

This was a beautiful walk...
This was a beautiful walk along the coastline of La Jolla that ended with a stroll through downtown. Come prepared for changing weather.
Response from the operator: Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, always good to carry layers this time of year. Thank you for leaving us a review!

Poor quality
Couldn't get the app to work...was waste of money trying ...spent to much time trying to figure it out...gave up
Response from the operator: Hi Dixie, sorry to hear you had trouble with the app, that's not the experience we want. If you had reached out we would have been happy to walk you through it. Your activation code is still valid, and we’d be happy to help you get started or issue you a full refund if you prefer. Please contact us directly so we can make this right for you.

Useful App to Guide You
Once I figured out the app & how to follow along I found this quite a cool experience. It appears that you have 90 minutes from when you purchase the tour to download & start the walk. The drop off point is confusing until you start the tour. There are steps down to the path by wheee you get dropped off but you don’t know about them until you start the guide in the app. Then it guides you an interesting audio tour based on your location. Very cool to see all the seals along the coastline. The automated text sent me to a web page that doesn’t exist but I could follow the instructions on the email.
Response from the operator: Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking the time to leave a review! Just to clarify, you actually have 90 *days* to download and activate the tour.

Misleading.... do not recommend
Extremely misleading with no times posted. After booking with orbitz, the time appeared as only between 7am-9am. Booked about 8 hours prior and wanted to tour around 10am, because we were unable to, tried to cancel but told it's non-refundable. TOTAL RIP OFF! DO NOT RECOMMEND
Response from the operator: Actually you can take the tour anytime during the day within 90 days of your reservation, no need to reschedule. I apologize for how it may have been described on Orbitz, but if you reach out to us directly at support@drivesanddetours.com we would be happy to assist you.

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
La Jolla Coast & Cove Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for La Jolla.
How much does La Jolla Coast & Cove Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $10 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in La Jolla usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does La Jolla Coast & Cove Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in La Jolla is not rushed.
Is La Jolla Coast & Cove Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in La Jolla, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule La Jolla Coast & Cove Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is La Jolla Coast & Cove Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book La Jolla Coast & Cove Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in La Jolla can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in La Jolla and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does La Jolla Coast & Cove Self-Guided Audio Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central La Jolla within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in La Jolla?
+
La Jolla is San Diego's best water day: kayak tours into the sea caves, snorkelling with leopard sharks in the ecological reserve, coastal walks with sea lions and sunset sails. On Outty we rank every La Jolla experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cali Dreaming Electric Bike Tour of La Jolla and Pacific Beach, Incredible Slot Canyons to the Pacific, SoCal Riviera Electric Bike Tour of La Jolla and Mount Soledad. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit La Jolla?
+
June to September for warm water, year-round for kayaking. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in La Jolla?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
