What you'll see and do
Kumbalangi is a model fishing village and tourism spot located in the south-west of Kochi and it is surrounded by the backwaters of Vembanad lake. The major attraction of Kumbalangi are the fishing activities and the Chinese fishing nets cover the whole island. The land here is separated from the water by a wide array of mangroves and this provides a breeding ground for many small fish as well as prawns and oysters. Kumbalangi offers you an inside peek into the rural life of the villagers and it is a must see destination as it has been transformed to an eco-tourism village, making it a first of its kind in the country. Enjoy the engaging activities of the villagers as they prepare coconut milk punch, weave rugs, catch crabs and fish, and also process shellfish and coconut fibres. You can also witness some unique sights such as ola medayal (making roof coverings using special coconut leaves) and making fishing nets. You will have a delicious lunch with local specialties in an open-air area where you can suck in the cool air. Kumbalangi tour village would be incomplete without a Kolkali performance, a local traditional dance in which the dancers move in a circle. You will return back to the Port after a refreshing tour in Kumbalangi.

Fascinating Tour!
What an interesting tour! My driver Nithin was fabulous! He told me so much about the India way of life and what we were seeing! Such a nice man…the best tour guide I have ever had! The motorboat tour was so beautiful. The fish farm was excellent witnessing how fish nets are made and used. Also, a fun row boat ride around a local’s fish farm. The local also sang a wonderful song to us! Nithin my driver was so good to me, he made sure we crossed the insanely busy streets safely! He even stopped so we could watch a Hindu Temple Festival! Amazing! I will never ever forget this incredible day!

We arrived at the Kumbalangi by ToukTouk. We could see how to catch fish and crabs. Making a palm snap with cutting of the leaves was very interesting. In addition, you could see how ropes, coconut milk, palm roof, Indian cigarettes ........ are made
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience at Kumbalangi! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the hands-on activities and cultural insights. From catching fish and crabs to making palm snaps and seeing the traditional crafts, it sounds like a truly enriching day. We hope these memories stay with you forever!

Kimbalangi village full of fun K
Kumbalangi is a quiet, leafy island village which is full of rural tourism activities. People mostley visit the island to see Chinese fishing nets, explore its mangrove forests, and to have an experience of traditional Keralan village life. Boat trips from Kallenchery cruise along the surrounding backwaters was so amazing. Local artisans and boatmen offer craft demonstrations and fishing trips, while simple, no-frills eateries serve seafood and local meals.

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Kumbalangi Village Sightseeing Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kochi.
How much does Kumbalangi Village Sightseeing Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kochi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kumbalangi Village Sightseeing Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kochi is not rushed.
Is Kumbalangi Village Sightseeing Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kochi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kumbalangi Village Sightseeing Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Kumbalangi Village Sightseeing Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Kumbalangi Village Sightseeing Tour?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kochi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kochi and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kumbalangi Village Sightseeing Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kochi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kochi?
+
On Outty we rank every Kochi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Local Kochi Sightseeing Tuk-Tuk Tour, Kochi Sightseeing Tuk-Tuk Tour, Kochi Sightseeing Tuk-Tuk Tour with Pickup From Cruise Ships. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kochi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kochi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
