One mum and two teenage boys - enjoyed the day of sightseeing and trying a few things

I had chosen this particular tour as the sites were ending with the waterfall and hot springs - we were taken to them first so that ruined my planning of wet clothes etc but it wasn’t a big issue. The car was rather small for 4 of us - another person joined us which was nice but could have had a bigger vehicle. Aircon was a godsend though. The visits were a good mix of trying out, learning and people watching. The hot springs were very hot, walking in the crowds up zillions of steps to look at Hindu temples, and then, more calming, admiring skills in making batik and learning about pewter.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback and joining our tour. We’re glad you enjoyed the mix of experiences — from the hot springs and temple visit to the batik and pewter demonstrations. We appreciate your understanding regarding the tour order and vehicle size, and we’ll take your comments into consideration to improve future experiences. We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!

Fabulous

Take Plenty of water and good walking shoes. Ladies cover your knees. Gents can wear shorts. The steps aren’t as bad as you may think. Our guide Indran was amazing, he was very informative and helpful. Couldn’t praise him enough. Would ask for him every time we would whole heartedly recommend this tour

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing these helpful tips and for your wonderful feedback! We're delighted to hear you had a great experience and that Indran made such a positive impression — we'll be sure to pass along your kind words to him. It’s fantastic that you enjoyed the tour and felt well taken care of. We’d love to welcome you back anytime for another adventure!

Request for Partial Refund Due to Unsatisfactory Tour Experience

Dear Viator Customer Service, I am formally requesting a partial refund for my recent tour booked through your platform, which was far from satisfactory due to several issues that rendered the experience disappointing. On the day of the tour, I was picked up at 10:20 AM. However, I encountered several problems that negatively impacted my experience: 1. **Lack of Water and Food**: Despite the tour description indicating that lunch was included, no packed lunch or refreshments were provided. When I inquired about lunch after 2 PM while we were en route to the waterfalls, we were asked whether we want to eat lunch at this time or after the waterfall as there wasn’t any packed lunch. Of course we my daughter wanted after as she didn’t want to miss out on the swimming. I had a child with me and we only had snacks andI was counting on the packed food or organised food break to hold her down. 2. **Inadequate Guidance**: The driver, who primarily operates within Kuala Lumpur, had never visited the sites included in the tour. He provided no guidance or information about the locations we were visiting, leaving me to navigate the Kanching Waterfalls alone after being dropped off. The driver mentioned he had never seen a food-provided tour. When I started asking him questions he felt underprepared and told me he doesn’t know and that he was just written to on a WhatsApp group chat and asked who is near this hotel and a he responded but the tour company told me the driver is stuff in traffic and was requested a while ago. 3. **Poor Communication and Timeline**: There was no clear timeline or communication regarding the order of the activities and when we would return to the car. This lack of organization caused significant delays, spoiling my schedule and making me late for a meetup with a local friend. After going to Batu Caves I was told that the tour will end within exactly six hours, which resulted in us missing the visitors' center that was part of the itinerary and lunch was offered to us after the falls but was too late, we had 10min to get take away and before we head out to arrive at 4pm at the drop off point. So the driver gave is 39MYR each to make a total of 60MYR. 4. **Driver's Attitude**: The driver seemed to view the tour as a favor rather than a service I paid for, which made me feel uncomfortable. His unfamiliarity with the tour sites and lack of knowledge about what was included made the experience feel very disjointed even though he tried his best with what he was provided with last minute. 5. **Late Pickup and Changes**: The initial driver changed the pickup point as it was not on the ground floor, and after 20 minutes of waiting, I was informed that I contacted and taken by another driver. After 15min of no contact, I contacted the tour agency and they told me he will contact me but no contact was provided. Finally, another staff member asked me where exactly I was and I sent the details and a few minutes later I was told a driver was found. In summary, my experience was akin to hiring a driver rather than participating in a guided tour, which was not what I expected when booking through Viator. If I wanted a local driver, I could have asked my Malaysian friend to drive us around or if she were busy for her to organise the driver for half of aud$238. I have previously enjoyed many tours organized by reputable companies, and this experience fell significantly short of those standards. Given these issues, I believe a partial refund is warranted. I look forward to your prompt response regarding this matter.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations and for the inconvenience this caused, especially while traveling with your child. We acknowledge the issues you raised regarding the lack of lunch, communication gaps, and the overall disorganization of the tour. Your concerns have been taken seriously and shared with our team to ensure immediate improvements. We appreciate your honesty and patience, and we agree that your experience did not reflect the quality we aim to provide.

Awesomeness

My driver was awesome. The caves were wonderful and much more than I expected as there were celebrations for the India culture. The hot water springs are very hot so be prepared. Also there is plenty of walking. The waterfalls has a path to walk to get to different levels of the falls.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that you had an awesome driver and enjoyed the wonderful caves, especially with the unexpected celebrations of Indian culture adding to the experience. It's great advice to be prepared for the hot water springs, and it's wonderful that there's plenty of walking to truly immerse oneself in the beauty of the area. Exploring the waterfalls sounds like a fantastic adventure, especially with the different levels accessible via walking paths. We appreciate your insightful review and hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable experiences in the future!

Kuala Lumpur Nature Batu Caves, Hot Springs & Waterfalls Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kuala Lumpur.

How much does Kuala Lumpur Nature Batu Caves, Hot Springs & Waterfalls Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $145 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kuala Lumpur usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kuala Lumpur Nature Batu Caves, Hot Springs & Waterfalls Tour take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kuala Lumpur is not rushed.

Is Kuala Lumpur Nature Batu Caves, Hot Springs & Waterfalls Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kuala Lumpur, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kuala Lumpur Nature Batu Caves, Hot Springs & Waterfalls Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kuala Lumpur Nature Batu Caves, Hot Springs & Waterfalls Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kuala Lumpur Nature Batu Caves, Hot Springs & Waterfalls Tour?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kuala Lumpur can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kuala Lumpur and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kuala Lumpur Nature Batu Caves, Hot Springs & Waterfalls Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kuala Lumpur within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur?

+

On Outty we rank every Kuala Lumpur experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sambal Streets Kuala Lumpur Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Genting Highland & Batu Cave Guided Day Tour (SIC/Shared Tour), Private Half-Day Batu Caves and Cutural Tour in Kuala Lumpur. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kuala Lumpur?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kuala Lumpur?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
