Highly recommended trip to experience pristine nature.

We would have given Alex six stars if we could. Great pre tour communication, an interesting drive out to the national park, and the hike was great. We were lucky enough to have fine weather and a dusting of snow so hiking through the forest felt like a fairy tale. A herd of reindeer ran past us - magical! It was early in the season, so the frozen waterfalls were still forming, and this added to the whole experience. Tasty BBQ lunch and snacks. Highly recommended.

Nice Nature Hike to view Beautiful Frozen Waterfalls & outdoor BBQ in Korouoma National Park

Nice hike in Korouoma National Park to see the canyon & frozen waterfalls. We took many photos & videos of the beautiful national park and frozen waterfalls. Our guide & driver, Alex is kind, considerate & helpful. He picked us up from our Airbnb near the city centre and drove 1.5 hour to the national park. It was -15C on that day and not cold to do the hike. Alex was always near to lend us a helping hand at the more challenging parts of the snow trek and guided us to take safer routes during the entire hike. However, it is still advisable to attach ice grippers to your hiking boots as some parts of the hike are slippery due to the icy ground and snow. As we did the trek in mid Dec with very short daylight hours and we are the only family for that trip (i.e. like our private family tour), Alex customised the trip for us to take a shorter route to see the frozen waterfalls, which we appreciated as we prefer to go at a more leisurely pace and take more photos & videos of the beautiful surroundings instead. Coming from a tropical country, this is our first snow trekking / hiking trip & we are not used to trekking in snow or icy trails and a couple of us had previous knee injuries from the past. He served us tasty sausages over a wood fire, Finnish potato bread, blueberry chocolates and homemade Glögi (Finnish mulled wine). We have tried Glögi & Glögg in Rovaniemi, Norway & Sweden. Alex’s homemade Glögi is definitely one of the best in terms of flavour and sweetness level (not overly sweet). On our way back to Rovaniemi city centre, Alex was accommodating & dropped us back at a big shopping centre for us to do some shopping. Overall, a nice & more unique activity to do in Rovaniemi. Alex is very service-oriented & keeps a look-out for his guests’ safety. We would definitely recommend him and this activity to others.

    Great experience ❤️

The communication with the agency was very good. They answered properly my questions & offered solutions. The hiking tour was great and Alex, our tour guide & driver, did a very good job 👏 . He was really very kind & helpful to all of us. A big compliment to Alex 🙏. It was a group of some ppl and he had everyone in mind and was always concerned about our safety. He offered himself as a photographer and made a great video in my case. Thank you so much 🙏. Greetings from Germany 💕

Korouoma Canyon: Frozen Waterfalls Hike & BBQ Experience: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rovaniemi.

How much does Korouoma Canyon: Frozen Waterfalls Hike & BBQ Experience cost?

    +

Prices start at $151 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rovaniemi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Korouoma Canyon: Frozen Waterfalls Hike & BBQ Experience take?

    +

Plan for about 7.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rovaniemi is not rushed.

Is Korouoma Canyon: Frozen Waterfalls Hike & BBQ Experience worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Rovaniemi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Korouoma Canyon: Frozen Waterfalls Hike & BBQ Experience?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Korouoma Canyon: Frozen Waterfalls Hike & BBQ Experience suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Korouoma Canyon: Frozen Waterfalls Hike & BBQ Experience?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rovaniemi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rovaniemi and add a light layer if any part of the 7.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Korouoma Canyon: Frozen Waterfalls Hike & BBQ Experience start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rovaniemi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rovaniemi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Rovaniemi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Northern Lights Rovaniemi: Guaranteed Viewing & Unlimited Mileage, Rovaniemi: Korouoma Canyon & Frozen Waterfalls Tour with BBQ, Rovaniemi:%100 Guaranteed Northern Lights Hunt&Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rovaniemi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rovaniemi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
