7 foot blue marlin success
We were warned fishing had been slow the week leading up to the charter but the guys were still able to get us a 7 foot blue marlin. If you want to catch a big fish while on island these guys are who to go to.
Response from the operator: Mahalo for the awesome review! We always try to be upfront with our guests about current conditions, and you're right, the bite had been slower leading up to your trip. That's what made that 7-foot blue marlin even more special! Those are the kinds of fish that make Kona famous around the world. Congratulations again on an incredible catch, and thank you for trusting us with your fishing adventure. We're thrilled the crew was able to put you on such an amazing fish, and we truly appreciate the recommendation. Hope to see you back in Kona for round two someday! With aloha, The Reel Escapes Crew

Great success, Great time!
Dean and claydo were fantastic guides. They were very good at their job and very experienced. They wanted to catch fish just as bad as we did. They were a great time they created a great atmosphere on the boat and when a line went down it was game time! Very good at what they do and it was a blast to be on the boat even when we weren’t hooked up. My girlfriend and I both caught blue marlins and the biggest fish of our lives! I highly recommend booking with these guys if you’re looking to troll for blue marlins in the blue marlin capital of the world! Claydo was also very helpful and gave me a bunch of tips and info for shore fishing locally on the island! These guys were amazing! Aloha!
Response from the operator: Aloha, and mahalo for such an awesome review! We’re stoked to hear you had such a great time with Dean and Claydo—they’re both incredibly experienced and truly love what they do. You’re absolutely right: when a line goes down, it’s game time, and the energy on the boat is hard to beat. Huge congratulations to both you and your girlfriend on landing blue marlin—and the biggest fish of your lives, no less! That’s something you’ll remember forever, and we’re honored to have been part of that moment for you in the Blue Marlin Capital of the World. We also love hearing that Claydo was able to share some local shore-fishing tips—that’s the kind of extra care and aloha our crew takes pride in. Thanks again for the recommendation and for trusting us with such a special experience. We hope to see you back on the water with us someday. Aloha and tight lines!

The adrenaline of the catch
Super exciting experience with the crew! Dean and Logan were both super knowledgeable and easy to converse with. The trip was slow until the last 30 mins where we caught a good sized wahoo and 250LB Marlin back to back. Made it all worth it and then some!

No bites but helluva day
Experience was great. Just Captain and first mate along with my family. They were knowledge and took the time to make sure we and our child knew what to do when we caught a fish. The day was beautiful. Crew was polite and easy to talk with. Unfortunately we didn't catch any fish but they damn well tried. Covered alot of ground, just nothing was bitting. Would absolutely go again with this folks.
Response from the operator: Mahalo for sharing your experience with us! We’re so glad to hear that you and your family enjoyed the day on the water with our crew. While we wish the fish had been biting, it means a lot to know you still felt well taken care of and had a great time together. Fishing in Kona is truly about the adventure, and we’re grateful you recognized the effort we put into covering ground and giving it our all. We’d love to welcome you back anytime for another trip—hopefully with a big catch waiting on the line next time! With aloha, Captain Brent

Top-Notch Charter Even Without the Catch
We booked a 6-hour trip with Reel Escapes Hawaii on the 40’ Cabo A‘u Nui, and even though we didn’t catch anything, it was still a great day on the water. Captain Dan and Deckhand “Rooster” were both top-notch, friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do. The boat was super comfortable, clean bathrooms, plenty of space to relax between runs. It’s clear they put a lot of care into the whole experience, and you can tell they know the waters well. Sometimes the fish just don’t bite, that’s part of fishing, but they gave it their all and kept the energy up the entire trip. Would absolutely book with them again. Good people, great boat, and an overall solid experience out of Kona.
Response from the operator: Mahalo for sharing such a kind and thoughtful review! While we always hope to get fish on the line, you’re absolutely right—sometimes that’s just part of the fishing experience. We’re so glad to hear that you still enjoyed your time on the A‘u Nui with Captain Dan and Rooster. They take a lot of pride in making sure every guest feels comfortable, welcomed, and has a memorable day on the water, and your words mean a lot. Thank you again for choosing Reel Escapes Hawaii—we’d love to welcome you back anytime for another adventure out of Kona! With aloha, Brent & the Reel Escapes Hawaii Team

Kona - 6 Hour Private Fishing Charter Kona, Hawaii: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Big Island of Hawaii.
How much does Kona - 6 Hour Private Fishing Charter Kona, Hawaii cost?
+
Prices start at $1095 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Big Island of Hawaii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kona - 6 Hour Private Fishing Charter Kona, Hawaii take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Big Island of Hawaii is not rushed.
Is Kona - 6 Hour Private Fishing Charter Kona, Hawaii worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Big Island of Hawaii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kona - 6 Hour Private Fishing Charter Kona, Hawaii?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Kona - 6 Hour Private Fishing Charter Kona, Hawaii suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Kona - 6 Hour Private Fishing Charter Kona, Hawaii?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Big Island of Hawaii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Big Island of Hawaii and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kona - 6 Hour Private Fishing Charter Kona, Hawaii start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Big Island of Hawaii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
The Big Island is volcano country: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tours, Mauna Kea summit stargazing, night manta ray snorkels off Kona, Waipio Valley lookouts and coffee farm visits. Summit tours have real altitude rules, so we weight safety detail. On Outty we rank every Big Island of Hawaii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include KONA Manta Ray Night Snorkel - FREE re-ride if no Sightings, Big Island in a Day: Volcanoes Waterfalls Sightseeing and History, Big Island: Captain Cook Snorkel On A Power Catamaran With Lunch. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Big Island of Hawaii?
+
April to October, though the island runs year round. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Big Island of Hawaii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
