Depart Keauhou Bay at 2:00 PM aboard the Hoku Nui — Sea Paradise’s 50-foot luxury sailing catamaran — and sail to the World Famous Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay, a Marine Life Conservation District on the Kona Coast. Kealakekua Bay has been protected since 1969. No fishing. No anchoring. The result: coral reef health and marine life density that general-access snorkel sites cannot match. Sea Paradise has been sailing here since 1985. What you may see: spinner dolphins at the bay entrance, spotted eagle rays, Moorish idols, yellow tang, humuhumunukunukuapuaʻa (Hawaii’s state fish), Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu), and moray eels throughout the reef. Marine naturalist crew run a full reef briefing before the snorkel. The afternoon trade winds create excellent sailing conditions on the return passage to Keauhou Bay — the sail back is consistently one of the highlights of the afternoon tour. Returns approximately 5:00 PM. This tour does not stop at the Red Hill Area.

    Fun time, crew was great...

Fun time, crew was great and very attentive. Snorkling was OK, saw plenty of fish, but not the best I have been to. We enjoyed listening to the history of the area and boat ride to and from.

Response from the operator: Aloha Marvin, Thank you for the kind words! We appreciate you noticing our crew and their professionalism. We hope to see you again on your next Hawaiian adventure! Mahalo Nui Loa

    Great fun!

It takes about 50 minutes to arrive to the snorkel area. We snorkeled 45-60 minutes and headed back. The crew was great, communicated the rules very well. They were friendly and did a great job. The boat is very nice and clean and offers 2 bathrooms.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review! We're so glad you enjoyed your time on the Hoku Nui! Mahalo Nui Loa for choosing Sea Paradise!

Snorkel up to Captain Cook Monument

We had an great time on this afternoon snorkel cruise. It took us to Captain Cook Monument which I had wanted to see in person after reading the book, The Wide Wide Sea by Hampton Sides which he writes about Cpt. Cooks making first contact with the people of the Hawaiian Islands. This monument indicates where he was killed. The monument itself is accessible by land, but we were told it is a "treacherous' and "dangerous" hike. There is no access by road/car. This snorkel trip lets you snorkel right in front of the monument itself. The snorkeling was great with lots of colorful fish and even a pod of dolphins curious about our boat as they kept circling and jumping near our boat. The guides were fantastic - above and beyond helping with every detail from helping me walk to the head with choppy waves to providing fresh water shower after snorkeling in the salty sea water. It was a relaxing tour with 10 other guests so not crowded or cramped. Highly recommend this tour.

Response from the operator: Aloha, Thank you so much for the kind words! We're very glad to hear you enjoyed your time on the Hoku Nui and also very glad to hear the crew was accommodating. We appreciate you choosing Sea Paradise and we hope to see you again on your next hawaiian holiday!

Response from the operator: Aloha, Thank you for choosing Sea Paradise. Mahalo nui loa for your kind words! We take pride in keeping the Hoku Nui nice and shiny, as well as, having top notch crew aboard! Please join us again for a future snorkel adventure!
