Great staff, but 3hr round trip too rough to recommend
I'll start by saying that the staff were excellent; friendly, clear on timings, and professional. The day consists of 3 stops - 2 snorkeling stops on Koh Tao (you have the buffet lunch at the second stop), and a stop at the island of Nang Yuan. When I did the trip this week, the first snorkeling stop was not overly pleasant, largely because the water had lots of mini jellyfish. Just be wary of this. I know the company can't control this, and I'm not sure if it was just bad luck, but it put me off a bit. That said, the second and third snorkeling spots were incredible (and jellyfish free), and although I didn't see any turtles or baby sharks, I still saw so much marine life. I could have stayed there for hours but we did have long enough at both. The buffet lunch was excellent and plentiful and we had provided drinks (water and coke) on the boat. You can buy beer at a small cost. The main issue though was the 1.5 hour journey each way on the speedboat. Yes, you can't see a lot (except out of the back), but the problem is that the journey is far from smooth and, unfortunately, a number of people were sick on the return journey. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend this trip. It is too far to go and not a pleasant journey on the boat. The engines are incredibly loud preventing any conversation. If you suffer with motion/sea sickness do yourself a favour and avoid this trip. I'm sad to say this because I was really looking forward to it and the staff were all very good, but I want to post my honest review to help others.
Response from the operator: Dear customer, Thank you for your review and apologize for any disappointed experience during your trip! With jelly fishes, this time of the year it is the season of them so thank you for your kind understanding that it is from the nature occurred. For the time of journey, Koh Tao is the most faraway destination for the one day trip departs from Koh Samui, so totally agree if anyone does not good on boat riding, this trip is quite a long ride, plus on your traveling period there was windy from the storm effect casing of wavy. However, Koh Tao is the best spots for snorkeling trip in the Gulf of Thailand, so if travelers who don't have the problem on the boat riding and under the calm sea condition, this trip is still highest recommended from the travelers. Best regards, Jiggy

Would recommend this trip for snorkeling
The staff on the boat were really informative and friendly. Adequate time at each each of the 3 snorkeling stops. The lunch was very tasty and plenty of it. Cold water and soft drinks always available.
Response from the operator: Dear Linda, Thank you for sharing your memorable experience during your trip. We're delighted to see you had a good time with our tour operation. We're thrilled you enjoyed snorkeling, lunch and beverage! We always try to find unique and memorable spots for our guests. Thank you for your support and hope to serve you again. Best snorkeling trip to see turtle and baby shark
It was a perfect trip! We saw everything we wanted to see with an amazing guide, we saw baby sharks, a big turtle lots of fishes and beautiful coral. In addition, they had a nice lunch with a chicken option and a vegan option with rice and pineapple and watermelon in the afternoon. The guide was really kind and enthusiastic, he made nice pictures too!

Good but not great
Enjoyable day, not great weather but nothing you can do about that. Lunch was ok, crew should never eat before the guests. They were seated and eating before guests even came up the stairs. Would have been nice to look around Koh Toa but hard to do when we couldn’t have our shoes! BIG TIP, get earplugs for the boat ride unless you want industrial deafness. Totally ruined the day with 3 very loud boat engines for 3 hours!
Response from the operator: Dear Naomi, Thank you for your review and apologize for any disappointed caused on your experience! Unfortunately, during this period starts rainy season, so the weather is on and off and effect to the snorkeling trip. For the shoes mentioned, we are not quite sure which place that you can not have shoes because if for snorkeling we need to protect the corals and sea flowers please. But, if other places with shoes are always fine. Best regards, Jiggy

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Koh Samui.
How much does Koh Tao & Koh Nangyuan by Speed Boat (Snorkeling trip from Koh Samui) cost?
+
Prices start at $56 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Koh Samui usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Koh Tao & Koh Nangyuan by Speed Boat (Snorkeling trip from Koh Samui) take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Koh Samui is not rushed.
Is Koh Tao & Koh Nangyuan by Speed Boat (Snorkeling trip from Koh Samui) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 36 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Koh Samui, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Koh Tao & Koh Nangyuan by Speed Boat (Snorkeling trip from Koh Samui)?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Koh Tao & Koh Nangyuan by Speed Boat (Snorkeling trip from Koh Samui) suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Koh Tao & Koh Nangyuan by Speed Boat (Snorkeling trip from Koh Samui)?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Koh Samui can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Koh Samui and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Koh Tao & Koh Nangyuan by Speed Boat (Snorkeling trip from Koh Samui) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Koh Samui within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Koh Samui?
+
On Outty we rank every Koh Samui experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angthong National Marine Park VIP Small Group Tour, Cooking Class in Koh Samui with Micro Organic Garden, Half Day Elephant Home Sanctuary in Samui. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Koh Samui?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Koh Samui?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
