    Our Anniversary Experience

We booked the trip the night before and received an immediate response with simple instructions for pick up. The driver picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the pier in which we boarded the boat for the day activities. Please keep in mind that you will have to pay three hundred baht per person as an entry fee for the national park . They provided us with a late breakfast and beverages. The boat has three levels with a The boat has three levels with an upper deck for sunbathing and napping.. be sure to bring a towel and sunscreen. The tour guides were engaging in very friendly. It took us about an 1 hr and 40 Min to get to the national Park from Ko Samui. If you pay for the full experience, first you Will go kayaking through coves and a cave to get to the first beach with a view point. Please keep in mind that the climb is steep so wear proper shoes or you can do like did and bring trainers and flip-flops. They did provide a tasty lunch of chicken, veggies, rice, and spring roll Next, you’ll get into a motored gondola with the same people on your boat. If you are claustrophobic or have issues with being in tight spaces with many people, you may have some anxiety. This boat then takes you to the most worthy part of the trip. There, you have the option to hike up to the viewpoint, explore the cave or go snorkeling. I would highly recommend taking the hike as the viewpoint is worth it, but please be careful as a height can be challenging for some. The guides estimated that it would take us about an hour round-trip and it took me an hour and a half (I’m in exceptional health and over 40). Please be advised you are going to want to get into the water after your hike. We didn’t see many people snorkeling but swam until it was time to go. We made it back to our hotel with the same transportation provided in the morning.

Response from the operator: Dear Tatiana, Thank you so much for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful review of your anniversary trip with us, we truly appreciate the time you took to describe your experience so clearly. 😊 We’re very happy to hear that everything from the last-minute booking to the hotel pick-up went smoothly, and that you enjoyed the comfort of the big boat, the meals, and the friendly, engaging guides throughout the day. It’s great to know you made the most of the activities, especially the kayaking and the hike to the viewpoint, we completely agree, the view is absolutely worth the effort! 🌴 Thank you as well for highlighting helpful tips for future travelers, such as the national park fee, proper footwear, and what to expect during the different parts of the tour. This kind of insight is incredibly valuable for other guests. We’re honored you chose to spend your anniversary with us and hope to welcome you back again for another memorable experience in Koh Samui. 💙 Best regards, Tony & the Backpacker Samui Travel Team Koh Samui, Thailand

Scenic tour but guard your belongings.

The trip was nice, very scenic and the kayaking and hiking were good exercise. However, I lost my expensive l sunglasses on the boat under suspicious circumstances. The crew claimed they offered them to a random passenger. Not sure I believe the story. Hang on to your possessions. Partly my fault but mystifying that they disappeared so quickly.

Response from the operator: Dear Janny, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re very pleased to hear you enjoyed the scenic beauty of Angthong National Marine Park as well as the kayaking and hiking activities. We’re truly sorry to learn about the issue with your sunglasses. While our crew always does their best to assist with lost items, we understand how frustrating and disappointing this situation must have been for you. We will share your comments with the team to ensure greater care and attention is taken in the future. We appreciate your honest feedback, and we hope you will keep the wonderful memories of the park and perhaps give us another opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Warm regards, Tony & Team Koh Samui, Thailand🌴⛵

Beautiful islands with lots of climbing

Overall a good experience. For being the cheapest tour option available, we were pleased with the organization and the tour team. The marine park really is as beautiful as the photos. I would note that this is a walk/hike heavy tour and the snorkelling is not good (but we had fun!). We did the kayaking which gave a really good view of the island. There wasn't much time to linger in the kayak, but the guide was good and patient. The walk up to the emerald lagoon was not too hard though there are many very steep stairs, but it's not so far and it's possible to do it in flip flops (just be very careful not to lose them through the stair gaps). We liked the flexibility on the second island to hike to the overlook or cave or swim/snorkel. We hiked to the cave which was shorter and very cool—you should definitely wear sneakers or strap on sandals for this one because it is a challenging rocky climb with debris and you use ropes to climb. We really liked seeing the first cave (we didn't go to the others because of time/challenge. The beach is beautiful and has fine sand, though the swim area isn't great for snorkelling—the coral is dead and there aren't many fish. The lunch on the boat was good.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review! We're really happy to hear that you enjoyed the stunning beauty of Angthong Marine Park and that our team and organization met your expectations—especially considering this was one of the more affordable tour options. It’s great to know the kayaking and hiking experiences stood out for you, and your practical tips about footwear and the trails will surely help future travelers! We appreciate your honest feedback about the snorkeling conditions as well. While the marine life in some areas has unfortunately declined, we're glad you still had fun and made the most of the day. Thanks again for joining us on this adventure! Best regards, Tony & Team 🏝️⛵🐠 Represented by Backpacker Samui Travel Koh Samui, Thailand

A wonderful experience, very well organised and guides Tom and Marta were fun and gave excellent instructions on activity, highly recommend the kayak experience, we had not previously had any experience but felt safe and had an amazing time! Angthong national marine park stunning but, being more mature in years and not athletes, could not manage the full hike to highest viewpoint but still not disappointed with the views we did see. A must visit fir those travelling to Koh Samui!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Koh Samui.

How much does Koh Samui: Day Trip to Angthong National Marine Park by Big Boat cost?

    +

Prices start at $38 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Koh Samui usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Koh Samui: Day Trip to Angthong National Marine Park by Big Boat take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Koh Samui is not rushed.

Is Koh Samui: Day Trip to Angthong National Marine Park by Big Boat worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Koh Samui, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Koh Samui: Day Trip to Angthong National Marine Park by Big Boat?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Koh Samui: Day Trip to Angthong National Marine Park by Big Boat suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Koh Samui: Day Trip to Angthong National Marine Park by Big Boat?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Koh Samui can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Koh Samui and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Koh Samui: Day Trip to Angthong National Marine Park by Big Boat start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Koh Samui within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Koh Samui?

    +

On Outty we rank every Koh Samui experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angthong National Marine Park VIP Small Group Tour, Cooking Class in Koh Samui with Micro Organic Garden, Half Day Elephant Home Sanctuary in Samui. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Koh Samui?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Koh Samui?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
