Learn about the heritage of the Constantia Winelands on our full-day tour and visit the 5 wine farms which originally formed part of the Simon van der Stel Constantia wine farm: Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, Buitenverwachting, Constantia Uitsig, and Steenberg. We recommend enjoying a beautiful lunch overlooking the vineyards and pairing it with some of the best wines produced in South Africa. After the wine farm and wine tasting experience, we then continue to one of ten National Botanical Gardens covering 5 of South Africa's 6 different biomes. Here you will immerse yourself in the richest flower kingdom in the world while learning about the history & natural heritage of the region you'll also enjoy the fresh air and scenic views of the garden. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden
Situated on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch is internationally acclaimed as one of the seven most magnificent botanical gardens in the world. The 528 hectares’ estate includes a cultivated garden and a nature reserve. The developed garden displays collections of southern African plants including many rare and endangered species. There are also visitor facilities in the garden including restaurants, a nursery, a gift shop, a bookshop and a permanent Zimbabwean stone sculpture exhibition.

Groot Constantia
We then proceed to the historical Groot (meaning Big) Constantia wine estate. Groot Constantia is the oldest wine producing farm in South Africa since 1685 and even after the farm had changed ownership, it still maintains the production of high quality, award-winning wine. The farm produces 70% Red and 30% White cultivars. We can recommend a beautiful lunch either at Simon’s Restaurant or at Jonkershuis Restaurant, both set on this exquisite wine estate.

Constantia Glen Winery
We begin our Simon van der Stel wine tour with Buitenverwachting (meaning Beyond expectation) wine estate. This too, had formed part of the original Constantia farm which was found by Simon van der Stel. Even though it changed ownership, they retraced the roots of the estate and restored the historical buildings on the farm. The farm produces 8 % Red, 90% White and 2 % Rose cultivars.

As other reviews said, this was really just a private driver. Our driver was very nice, but as a solo woman traveler I would want to know what I was booking. We certainly could have gotten a similar experience by taking the hop on hop off red city bus and/or booking an uber for much cheaper.

The tour was most wonderful experience . I am more knowledgeable about roots of the southafrican Freedom movement. We got picked up on time by our driver and given a briefing before our tour. I got mixed reactions when talking to capetonians about visiting Robben Island
