Epic Team for a Majestic Summit

I had the great pleasure of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with Wander Women Tours. While it is difficult to capture all of the emotions and experiences that come with traversing five distinct and breathtaking ecosystems on this remarkable mountain, there are a few things I would share with prospective travelers: 1) An incredibly warm, gracious, and supportive team The women guiding and supporting our trek truly could not have treated our group better. They consistently went above and beyond their formal responsibilities, joining our dance parties, patiently teaching me Swahili 😊, and creating an experience that felt exceptionally well-planned, organized, and safe. Their enthusiasm, professionalism, and genuine kindness made the journey even more memorable. 2) The porters transformed the experience As someone who usually prefers a do-it-yourself approach to travel, I was initially unsure how I would feel about having porters. However, the large team making this possible was incredibly hardworking, welcoming, and joyful companions throughout the trek, often singing as they worked and bringing tremendous energy to the experience. Their support came with some serious benefits: delicious and filling meals, an impressive variety of fresh food throughout the trip (supported with a resupply point), a dining tent that provided a warm refuge during cold and rainy evenings to hang out as a group, private and very clean pit toilets, and the luxury of arriving at camp to find your tent and sleeping setup already prepared. Also supporting the Tanzanian economy, the hard-working folks living whom call it home, that still suffer heavily in an inequitable post-colonial world, really made this part of the experience a win-win. 3) Book with locally owned tour agencies! Please, please book through a Tanzanian-owned agency like Wander Women, internationally owned businesses don’t have to pay taxes like local businesses, and take most of the trip profit out of the beautiful host country, Tanzania. Tanzania both highly deserves the revenue and earns it with their hard labor on the mountain. Moreover, I did a safari and the Kili Trek with local owned guides whom each were very actively uplifting their communities. Wander Women works actively to fundraise to put women through college so they can learn to speak English and become guides in a political/economic/social environment where that can be very challenging for women. There is more I could say about the pure joy of being on the mountain through this company, but I’ll leave it at that.

Response from the operator: Awwww, thank you so much for these incredibly thoughtful and generous words. Reading your review truly means a lot to all of us at Kilimanjaro Wanderwomen Tours. It’s hard to describe the Kilimanjaro experience in words, and you captured it so beautifully — from the different ecosystems to the emotional journey along the way. We are so happy that you felt the warmth, care, and spirit of our team. Our guides and crew put their whole hearts into every climb, and knowing that you felt supported, safe, and genuinely connected makes us very proud. Your reflections about our porters are deeply appreciated. They are the backbone of every successful summit, and we are glad you experienced not only their hard work, but also their joy, energy, and sense of community. Sharing meals, songs, and moments together on the mountain is something very special. And thank you as well for highlighting the importance of supporting locally owned companies. This is at the core of what we do — creating meaningful opportunities for women and reinvesting in our communities. Your recognition of this mission truly encourages us to keep going. It was so fun to have you with us on the mountain, and we hope the memories, friendships, and maybe even a bit of Swahili 😊 stay with you for a long time. Karibu tena — you are always welcome back!

2 Spanish guys hiking with WanderWoman

An unforgettable trek to the roof of Africa! Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was a great challenge, made possible by an exceptional crew.We were two guys hiking with an agency that actually specializes in all-female trips, but they took great care of us anyway with no issues at all!The professionalism of the guides and porters was top-notch. The guides monitored our health constantly, managed our pace well, and ensured safety protocols were followed. Their knowledge of the mountain gave us confidence during the summit night. The porters worked tirelessly to set up camp ahead of our arrival. They were incredibly friendly, open to communication, and always ready to share a laugh. Their energy lifted our spirits when the altitude became difficult. The only minor downside was the quality of some rental gear, but the outstanding team made up for it. You will be in great hands with them. A big Asante sana to WanderWoman's team!! <3

Response from the operator: Dear Rubén, big congratulations on your summit success! Thank you so much for trusting us and confiding in our women´s team to lead you up Mt Kilimanjaro. Our team had such a great time on the mountain with you guys. We are happy you felt safe and well guided, and we apologize for inconveniences with the rental gear. Un abrazo muy fuerte!

    Excellent Team with Outstanding purpose

Never would I have thought that the trip would leave me speechless with the amount of support Kilimanjaro Wander Women tours gave in order for me to succeed in one of my life goal. Julia and Ekeney was fast in accommodating my changed schedule due to an unprecedented war that changed my flights. After which they provided myself, Madie and Katie (two other guests) with an even competent guides, lead Asha and Rachel that definitely “guided” as through difficult terrain paths and even emotional turmoil. The Kilimanjaro Wonder women tribe provided all the needs and support for us to succeed. I couldn’t recommend this company enough and wish to do more trips with them in the future. Not only I am achieving my personal goal so does the purpose of the company in supporting Tanzanian women. I wish for the company to succeed and serve more tourists and their own people, especially Women. Thank you for the wonderful experience Kilimanjaro Wander Women tours.

Response from the operator: Dear Alia, thank you so much for trusting us and congratulations on summiting Mt Kilimanjaro under those rough weather conditions. You did amazing, what an achievement! Thank you for your support! Wishing you all the best from all of our Wanderwomen team!

Support women-led adventures & help create change... All while doing something epic!

I booked Kilimanjaro Wander Women because I was filming a documentary along Mount Kilimanjaro, and I knew I needed a team that aligned deeply with the values behind the project. Wander Women is proudly women-led, built on empowering women on the mountain, challenging gender discrimination, and creating space for women to work, lead, and thrive at altitude without limits. From the very beginning, the energy was different. Supportive. Strong. Grounded. Exactly what you want when you’re pushing your body and mind in thin air. Kilimanjaro is hard... there’s no way around that! But Wander Women made sure our all-female team never felt alone in it. I lost count of how many times we heard, “You are strong. You can do this.” And every time, it mattered. Their leadership comes from both deep mountain experience and lived life experience. They understand what women need when something is physically and mentally demanding—not just technically, but emotionally. That kind of awareness can’t be taught in a guidebook. Along the way, we heard stories of gender discrimination and sexual harassment that many women have experienced while working on the mountain with male-dominated companies. Hearing those realities made it even more powerful to be part of a team where the staff feels genuinely safe, respected, and empowered. And as tourists, we have an important opportunity, and responsibility, to choose who we support. What values are we investing in? What kind of environments are we helping to create on the mountain? I can say with complete confidence that the ones Wander Women supports—and actively builds every single day—are absolutely worth investing in. Our guides Asha, Mary, Esther, and Rachel were absolute rockstars. Knowledgeable, capable, and quietly changing what leadership on Kilimanjaro looks like. They are carving out space for women on the mountain, and you feel the impact of that every single day on the trail. Our porters were just as incredible! They carried heavy loads with strength and joy, and always had encouragement to offer as they passed us on the trail. On summit night, we hiked for 6.5 hours to the top, and our summit porters sang the entire way. Six and a half hours of song, rhythm, and motivation. They knew exactly what we needed, and they carried us there—physically and emotionally. I’ve never felt more supported, more seen, or more encouraged on an adventure like this. Our team shared their stories so openly and generously that this experience felt less like a guided climb and more like taking on the mountain together as a family. Wander Women isn’t just a trekking company. It’s a collective force. And climbing Kilimanjaro with them is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Response from the operator: Dear Kendra, we cannot thank you enough for all you did and still do to support our local women at Mt Kilimanjaro. It was such a special and amazing time with you, we are so happy to have met you, you are truly a gem. We cannot wait to see the documentary, we are so excited about it. And last but not least of course: Big big congratulations on summiting Kilimanjaro to you and your group of wonderful women. You all made it, we are so proud of you!

Kilimanjaro Climb via Marangu Route with All Women Team: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moshi.

How much does Kilimanjaro Climb via Marangu Route with All Women Team cost?

    +

Prices start at $2,500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moshi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kilimanjaro Climb via Marangu Route with All Women Team take?

    +

Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moshi is not rushed.

Is Kilimanjaro Climb via Marangu Route with All Women Team worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 22 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Moshi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kilimanjaro Climb via Marangu Route with All Women Team?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Kilimanjaro Climb via Marangu Route with All Women Team suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 192-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kilimanjaro Climb via Marangu Route with All Women Team?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moshi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moshi and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Moshi?

    +

On Outty we rank every Moshi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfall, Coffee Tour and Picnic Hot Lunch, Materuni Waterfall and Coffee Plantation Half Day Tour, Kilimanjaro climb, Machame Route (7-day). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Moshi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Moshi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
