The Rongai route is one of the most favourable routes to attempt Kilimanjaro during the rainy season, as it sees substantially less rain than the southern routes. The route ‘also known as the Nalemuru route’ is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the North, close to the Kenyan border. Rongai route offers a true wilderness experience in the early stages of the climb, it is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the crowded Marangu route, for those who want a more remote hike and for those who climb during the rainy season (the north side receives less precipitation). Our professional climbing crews will take care of your safety and comfort. Our expert local team will surprise you with their cooking skills and the porter will carry all mountain equipment. The guides will be leading the route and sharing their knowledge about the mountain, culture and history of Tanzania. Our cost includes Pre and post-climb accommodation and airport transfer.

Trek with the best professional guides and teams!
Hilbas tours are the best! I want to highly recommend Hilbas tours! They were very professional and knowledgeable. From my very first communications via text and email to the end of my trek when they delivered me to my safari guide. I was picked up at the airport last in the evening and driven to my beautiful hotel. The accommodations they provided were five star. Each hotel had a pool and restaurant. All of my needs were met and exceeded my expectations! They helped me secure my gear the day before my trek on Kilimanjaro and made sure I had everything I would need. The guide and team leader, Hillary was exceptional and I felt safe the whole time I was hiking. He monitored my health throughout the day and tested me every evening for mountain sickness. My dietary needs were taken into consideration and my vegan/vegetarian meals were some of the best I've ever enjoyed on an excursion, thanks to my chef, Samson. The care I received while I was in camp was impeccable. Michael my waiter and now good friend, made sure I had every I needed to be successful each day. If you are planning to hike Kilimanjaro, you definitely should use Hilbas Tours! It was an adventure of a lifetime!

I ha e used Bariki and his team twice...excellent experience
Bariki and his team were fantastic. We had 16 total climbers and 13 of us made it to the Uhuru peak! 1 of my friends was needing to get some additional care and Bariki's team did so much to make sure he was well taken care and to safety. They quality of the tents, food and their expert knowledge made it a great experience. I've climbed twice and both times with Bariki. I wouldn't imagine ever doing it with anyone else. He brings such great, positive energy and decades of experience.

Amazing, mystical, unforgettable trek to the top of Africaop of Africa
Amazing experience which will remain one of the best of my life! The staff has been perfect, the guides always very professionnal, kind and helpful. The cook prepared a lot of delicious dishes. The team of porters has been very professionnal too, always very helpful too. The trek has been perfect, the weather very nice and sunny. We had a briefing every evening to prepare the next day and even a medical check up to assure we were healthy enough to go further. We all of us (we were 6) reached the summit which was of course such a magical moment that it is impossible to describe with words!

Kilimanjaro Climb by Rongai Route 6 days: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moshi.
How much does Kilimanjaro Climb by Rongai Route 6 days cost?
+
Prices start at $2,282 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moshi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kilimanjaro Climb by Rongai Route 6 days take?
+
Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moshi is not rushed.
Is Kilimanjaro Climb by Rongai Route 6 days worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Moshi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kilimanjaro Climb by Rongai Route 6 days?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Kilimanjaro Climb by Rongai Route 6 days suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 192-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Kilimanjaro Climb by Rongai Route 6 days?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moshi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moshi and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kilimanjaro Climb by Rongai Route 6 days start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Moshi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Moshi?
+
On Outty we rank every Moshi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Materuni Waterfall, Coffee Tour and Picnic Hot Lunch, Materuni Waterfall and Coffee Plantation Half Day Tour, Kilimanjaro climb, Machame Route (7-day). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Moshi?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Moshi?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
