What you'll see and do

  1. Kbal Spean

Kbal Spean is not as breathtaking as other ancient Khmer heritage sites, but is evocative and charming. It can not at all be called a landmark, but it is one of those attractions that are unique to Cambodia, a place of magic beyond imagination. Surprisingly, Kbal Spean was found and explored not before 1969. What makes the "1000 Lingas" exceptional is that they are underwater carvings. The Lingams are at the bottom of the river bed, a few centimetres below the water level. Works of art under flowing water that is the hallmark of Kbal Spean, one more incomparable appeal of Cambodia, Kingdom of Wonder.

  2. Most visitors asked which was the most beautiful temple they saw in Cambodia, will answer: Angkor Wat was great, but we love Banteay Srei most. And Cambodians will tell you: As long as you have not seen Banteay Srei you have not seen Cambodia. Indeed, Banteay Srei is a top candidate for a competition: Which is the nicest temple in the world? What is special about Banteay Srei, is its abundance in carvings and the perfect harmony of architectural and sculptural art. Actually, at Banteay Srei building and ornamentation is nearly undiscernable, as in the case of the best examples of fine arts in India. But in contrast to Indian masterpieces Banteay Srei is not over-ornate. It's design is discreet, more delightful than impressive. Its dimensions are modest. Most visitors are surprised, how small Banteay Srei is.

Excellent day with a top notch guide!!

Ram was an excellent guide. He took us to several temples and the Kbal Speen trek. The temples and jungle were absolutely stunning. Ram taught us about the history of the area, the religious significance, and about Cambodian culture. He is a natural teacher and speaks English very well. I highly recommend this tour...ask for Ram!!

Excellent Guide. Great Day.

Our guide, Mr Ram was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and interesting about temples as well as things we saw on the way and aspects of Cambodian life, and superb at identifying birds. The driver was careful and considerate and the car cool and comfortable. We stopped at a lovely restaurant for lunch (cost not included but was very reasonable). And then there were the sights themselves :-)! First we went to Banteay Samre which was pleasantly uncrowded. It was the first temple we visited so we can't really compare but it was nonetheless very impressive and Mr Ram explained its construction, history and the mythology behind the carvings. We then did the hike up to Kbal Spean. The walk through forested paths was lovely and the river carvings at the top interesting. Then lunch and on to Banteay Srei, a smaller temple with beautifully intricate carvings but also much more crowded with tourists. Finally we went to the Landmine Museum. It's not a smart museum presented in a modern way but none the less brings home the message of the awfulness of landmines and with a visit. Altogether the tour was a fascinating insight into Cambodian life and history.

Wonderful tour outside of Siem Reap

Mr. Art who was our driver and Mr. Leap who was our tour guide were excellent. In particular, Leap holds a heap of knowledge about the Angkor period, and answered all our questions about Cambodia. I’m not much of a hiker myself, however I surprisingly enjoyed the trek to Kbal Spean. If you’re interested in seeing more Cambodian culture and history, other than what’s viewed at Angkor Wat this tour is a great option.

10/10 experience with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide

I had a wonderful time with Va. He was very kind, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun to be around. We had a long day with many great sights in store, and Va always kept the atmosphere light and fun. He was able to share so much information about the temples, their art and Khmer history, and not one second was boring. Plus, he’s just a very friendly guy. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone in need of his services— 10/10!

Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum

We booked a Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum, with Mr Sara as our guide and Mr Art as our driver. Both of them are very polite, welcoming and took good care of us. Mr Sara is very knowledgeable and patient in explaining the history and characteristics of the visit sites, and my son has a good time hiking with him at Khal Spean. He is also our kind photographer and videographer to capture the beautiful moments for memories. Strongly recommend to have them to colour your day in Siem Reap!

Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Siem Reap.

How much does Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum cost?

+

Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Siem Reap usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum take?

+

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Siem Reap is not rushed.

Is Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Siem Reap, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Siem Reap can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Siem Reap and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kbal Spean Trekking Tour with Banteay Srei and Landmine Museum start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Siem Reap within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Siem Reap?

+

On Outty we rank every Siem Reap experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Small-Group and Guide tours, Angkor Wat full Day 'Small Group with sunset & Tour Guide, Angkor Wat Sunrise or Sunset Tour with Guide from Siem Reap. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Siem Reap?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Siem Reap?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
