    6 stars experience

Laka picked us up at Colombo airport and was the first friendly face of Sri Lanka for us. The next day in Kandy we had a great Tuktuk tour with 3 Tuktuks for 9 people. It was a fantastic day with a lot of the nicest memories. The botanic garden and the local food centre were the coolest expieriences for me. They were super super nice to the kids which had such fun throughout the whole day. I higly recommend this tour with Laka. Thanks again and hope, we can repeat this once in future. Cheers, Igor & family

    Amazing experience

We had an amazing tour of Kandy, Laka was so knowledgeable and helpful, took us to temples, a prison, war memorials, carving centre, coronial gardens and the markets. We tailored the tour for what we wanted to do. We felt no pressure to go to certain places we didn’t want to and tailored the tour for ourselves. Laka had an amazing knowledge of Kandy, Srilanka history, Buddhism and it was amazing to spend the day with him.

    LAKA IS THE BEST!

We spent an entire day with Laka and the tour was AMAZING! Laka is the perfect local guide, funny and kind, and speaks great english; we visited eight wonderful places with his Tuk-tuk (temples, buddah status, wood carving shop, tea factory, etc...) and he explains every details and knows a lot about typical places and wonderful spots. For lunch we had and amazing (and cheap!) experience eating a lot of tasty dishes in a local market in Kandy 😋 And Lanka also helped us to arrange our next transfer to Nuwara Eliya! Thanks for all Laka, we Hope to meet you again!!🖤🙏

    We had an amazing day...

We had an amazing day touring Kandy with Laka. He picked us up from our hotel and made the entire day enjoyable, informative, and stress-free despite the busy Kandy traffic. Laka shared fascinating details about the history and culture of every place we visited, including temples, bridges, rivers, a tea factory, gem factories, and an Ayurvedic centre. He was incredibly knowledgeable and even explained the stories and significance behind the beautiful pictures and artwork inside the temples. What we appreciated most were his helpful local tips — from finding the best bargains and exchanging money to recommending bakeries for a quick snack and giving us advice when shopping for gems. Laka was friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely wanted us to have the best experience possible. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great guide for a Kandy tour!

more than a city tour - a truly local experience

We had an amazing day exploring Kandy with Laka Tours. Laka is an incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine guide who shared fascinating insights into the city’s history, culture, and daily life. The highlight for us was the authentic local lunch, where we enjoyed a wonderful variety of traditional Sri Lankan specialities in a place we would never have discovered ourselves. The tour was relaxed, flexible, and full of memorable moments. If you are looking for a personal experience with a guide who truly cares about his guests, we can highly recommend Laka Tours. Thank you, Laka, for a fantastic day!

Kandy City Tour by TukTuk with Laka: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kandy.

How much does Kandy City Tour by TukTuk with Laka cost?

    +

Prices start at $10 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kandy usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kandy City Tour by TukTuk with Laka take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kandy is not rushed.

Is Kandy City Tour by TukTuk with Laka worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kandy, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kandy City Tour by TukTuk with Laka?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kandy City Tour by TukTuk with Laka suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kandy City Tour by TukTuk with Laka?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kandy can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kandy and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kandy City Tour by TukTuk with Laka start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kandy within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kandy?

    +

On Outty we rank every Kandy experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Explore Kandy City Tour by Tuk Tuk, Tours and Transportation in Sri Lanka, Chauffeur guide and Tour organizer. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kandy?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kandy?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
