The hidden gem of Greece
This is a true gem of a tour. The Pelopponesian peninsula is stunning. My driver Georgios was willing to teach everything from Greek language (how to read and pronounce), history of the areas and gyros vs souvlaki and the proper way to order it. The tour itself was a hidden gem. There were very few foreign tourists and mostly Greek people on holiday which made me feel like I was truly experiencing Greece as a local. The rack rail train trip was simply stunning and well worth it for the views. Kalavryta is a gorgeous town with great coffee. The scenery everywhere was stunning but the Cave Lakes were magical. I will visit again when the water is higher. The museum at the caves was very educational. I highly recommend this trip for anyone ago wants to see a less than common part of Greece. Ευχαριστώ (thank you) Georgios.

Great time
We took the train and the view on the railroad is awesome, and Corinth canal is very impressive. Cave of lake took hours to get there and only 10 mins visit but it’s really worth it.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your review! We appreciate your feedback. The historic village of Kalavryta, the scenic route of the Rack Railway "Odontotos" and the amazing Cave of Lakes make this tour one of the most interesting to do in Greece all year round. Great people, great tracks
The train ride was great. Helena accompanied us on the train, discussing what we were seeing. Scenery was spectacular, with snow covered mountains and following the river. The Holocaust Museum was quite informative, with Helena adding information as we looked at the exhibits. Our driver, Alex was always ready when we were ready to move on. Helena went way out of her way to help me solve a problem. I was very grateful for her assistance.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your good comments! It is a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed the tour to Kalavryta with us. We appreciate your feedback as we are always trying to improve our services! In Premium Greek Tours we are always excited to share our knowledge and experience with our guests!! Looking forward to seeing you again in Greece! Evangelos

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Kalavryta, Rack Railway & Cave of Lakes Full Day Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Kalavryta, Rack Railway & Cave of Lakes Full Day Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kalavryta, Rack Railway & Cave of Lakes Full Day Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Kalavryta, Rack Railway & Cave of Lakes Full Day Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kalavryta, Rack Railway & Cave of Lakes Full Day Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Kalavryta, Rack Railway & Cave of Lakes Full Day Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Kalavryta, Rack Railway & Cave of Lakes Full Day Private Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kalavryta, Rack Railway & Cave of Lakes Full Day Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
