Just So-So experience
The self guided walking tour of Hidden Valley trail worked as described. Some of the “stories “ provided were interesting, most were not. It was helpful in keeping us on the trail as signage is poor in Joshua Tree NP.
Response from the operator: Tracie, I’m glad to hear that my Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Audio Tour worked as described and helped keep you on track, especially since signage in Joshua Tree can be limited. I also appreciate your thoughts on the stories and feedback like this. It’s really helpful. I’d love to know which parts you found less interesting or what you feel could be added to make the experience more engaging. If you’re open to sharing more details, I can pass them along to my team as we continue refining the tour. Your input truly helps improve the experience for future visitors.

Tip ahead
One tip.....know what the heck a Joshua tree looks like before ask a person who thought I was crazy!! Nice park and cute town.
Response from the operator: Denise, thank you for the laugh and for sharing your experience. I love your tip—Joshua Trees do have a way of keeping people guessing at first. I’m glad you enjoyed the Hidden Valley walk and took in both the park and the town’s charm. If you ever find yourself back in the area, I recommend my Palm Springs and Joshua Tree Self-Guided Driving Audio Tours Bundle for a more extensive experience. It combines the best of Palm Springs and Joshua Tree, allowing you to enjoy their unique beauty and stories at your own pace.

Waste of Money
This was a waste of money. The narration only came on when I approached particular spots, but with no internet there in that isolated area (no bars at all) the narration only came on for 3 of the spots. What a disappointment.
Response from the operator: Jefferson, thank you for sharing your feedback. I’ve already seen your review on TripAdvisor and I truly appreciate your thoughts. I’d love to understand more about what happened. Please feel free to reach out directly if you’d like to provide more details, and I’ll be happy to assist.

Unusable
This was a waste of money since there is no internet access there in Hidden Valley. The app was unusable in those conditions, so I think I might have heard 3 selections over the mile-long course out of 20 selections that should have broadcast. The hike was well laid out by the park service, but I was very disappointed that I wasn't hearing anything from the app since it was location based, and wouldn't broadcast with no internet connection.
Response from the operator: Jefferson, I’m sorry to hear about your experience! Once the tour is downloaded beforehand, the stories work fully offline and are designed specifically for that functionality. It seems you heard only 3 audio stories, which means you may have been only listening to the demo. I’m happy to replace or refund this tour for you since you didn’t really get to use it.

Detailed, Fun, and Educational
Very detailed, fun, and educational tour! This was a great way to enhance my hike! Excellent narration and timing was perfect.
Response from the operator: Linda, I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed my Joshua Tree’s Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Tour! It’s great that you found the narration detailed, fun, and educational — and that it enhanced your hike with perfect timing. Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Joshua Tree's Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Palm Springs.
How much does Joshua Tree's Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $10 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Palm Springs usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Joshua Tree's Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Palm Springs is not rushed.
Is Joshua Tree's Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.3/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Palm Springs, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Joshua Tree's Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Joshua Tree's Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Joshua Tree's Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Tour?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Palm Springs can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Palm Springs and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Joshua Tree's Hidden Valley Self-Guided Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Palm Springs within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Palm Springs?
+
Palm Springs sells architecture tours through midcentury neighbourhoods, Aerial Tramway trips up San Jacinto, Indian Canyons hikes, Joshua Tree stargazing and windmill farm runs. Shade, water and pickup points separate a good desert tour from a rough one. On Outty we rank every Palm Springs experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bank Heist Escape Room Game for Private Group, Palm Springs Modernism Architecture & History Bike Tour, Vampire's Lair Escape Room Game for Private Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Palm Springs?
+
November to April. Book dawn or evening slots in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Palm Springs?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
