Hidden Gems, iconic architecture and art in the desert

Best tour of the area, hidden gems on the tour. Would have never known of such amazing structures and art in the desert if not taken this tour. Frank, our guide was outstanding, so thorough explaining the background and creation of the buildings and pieces of art we were able to see, who would have thought these items were in the desert. Hidden gems !!

Response from the operator: Amazing!!! Glad you guys had fun. Yes, I we agree, there's a lot of hidden gems around Joshua Tree areas that nobody knows about unless you do know, cause when you know then you know. :)

    Hidden gems in Joshua Tree

It's a quirky journey around the town of Joshua Tree looking at interesting properties and art installations.

Response from the operator: Glad you guys had fun. Joshua Tree is becoming better each year. From The Joshua Tree National Park to all the art and wonders around the Joshua Tree area. There's a lot of cool stuff to see. Some really unique houses are hidden in the hills of Joshua Tree. Breathtaking designs that you will only see in Joshua Tree CA. Thanks for the review.

    Worth the Try!

We visited homes and art installations that we would never have found on our own. Joshua Tree has some hidden gems…homes that rival the best in the country. But they are out-of-the-way and not easy to find. Very interesting enjoyable day.

Response from the operator: Glad you guys had an awesome time , 5 stars would have been nice , but 4 stars is ok I guess. Thanks for joining us and checking out some cool areas in Joshua tree 😎

    I don’t don’t usually...

I don’t don’t usually write reviews but, we really had a good time on the tour. Our guy (Frank?) was excellent.

Response from the operator: Yes, Frank is a great tour guide. He's a good driver and a local guide for the area so he knows a lot of the amazing houses and good areas to see. We love Frank. Thanks for the review.

    Lame and unprofessional

We have used Viator/Trip advisor tours for 15 years. I always try to make my reviews positive, but I can't here. While I have empathy for Frank having some personal issues this day and changing times/places to meet twice, he was completely unprepared for leading the tour. Taking the group to visit an attraction that was closed that day is unforgiveable. That's just not professional. Having us meet at a remote cafe that was closed for the day and waiting for him to go home and change clothes/vehicles is also 2nd rate. This was the worst Viator tour we've ever experienced.

Response from the operator: Ouch. That hurts. Sorry about the time change and that your UBER DRIVER could not find the address. I didn't want to cancel the tour on you guys. Our vehicles are Chevy Express 3500 Vans for big groups and Mini Vans for small groups. I'll take note of your bad review and try to improve the meeting spot. If your reading this, please read the other reviews. We just launched this tour, it's a new one for the high desert.

Joshua Tree Architecture & Art Tour — Iconic Homes & Desert Art: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Palm Springs.

How much does Joshua Tree Architecture & Art Tour — Iconic Homes & Desert Art cost?

    +

Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Palm Springs usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Joshua Tree Architecture & Art Tour — Iconic Homes & Desert Art take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Palm Springs is not rushed.

Is Joshua Tree Architecture & Art Tour — Iconic Homes & Desert Art worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Palm Springs, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Joshua Tree Architecture & Art Tour — Iconic Homes & Desert Art?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Joshua Tree Architecture & Art Tour — Iconic Homes & Desert Art suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Joshua Tree Architecture & Art Tour — Iconic Homes & Desert Art?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Palm Springs can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Palm Springs and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Joshua Tree Architecture & Art Tour — Iconic Homes & Desert Art start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Palm Springs within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Palm Springs?

    +

Palm Springs sells architecture tours through midcentury neighbourhoods, Aerial Tramway trips up San Jacinto, Indian Canyons hikes, Joshua Tree stargazing and windmill farm runs. Shade, water and pickup points separate a good desert tour from a rough one. On Outty we rank every Palm Springs experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Bank Heist Escape Room Game for Private Group, Palm Springs Modernism Architecture & History Bike Tour, Vampire's Lair Escape Room Game for Private Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Palm Springs?

    +

November to April. Book dawn or evening slots in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Palm Springs?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
