Good experience in Jinshanling :)
Ruby was really nice, and had lot of kind attention (she gave us fruits and water), explanations in english were clear. And she was a really good driver, we start early at 6 am to be alone on the Great Wall. We recommend !
Response from the operator: Thank you very much:)

Excellent day
Our driver Jack was excellent, had water waiting for us when we came back and helped us get our entrance tickets. This section of the wall is a legitimate hike, but well worth it! Not many tourists at all, beautiful scenery and the wall itself is incredible.

Fantastic travel
Everything was perfect! The service was precise and all was amazing! Guide expertise and travel with a comfortable car.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your review. There are several sections of the Great Wall near Beijing that can be visited. The Jinshanling section of the Great Wall stands out from other sections with its broadest vision. If you want to experience the greatness of the Chinese Great Wall, please come here.

Great Wall!
Mark was a great tour guide! He was a safe driver and recommended all the right things. We left Beijing at 6am which turned out to be a great decision to beat the traffic and the people. We also went to Jinshanling section of the wall which was so great! The wall was in great condition and because we were there early there wasn’t many people. A+ highly recommend.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your comment. Coincidentally, from May 1st to May 5th is China's Labor Day holiday, and all the tourist attractions are extremely crowded with visitors. However, the Jinshanling Great Wall, which is 140 kilometers away from the urban area of Beijing, is an exception to the congestion. In stark contrast to the crowded sections of the Great Wall, there aren't too many tourists at the Jinshanling Great Wall, and you can only occasionally hear the chirping of a few birds. The Jinshanling Great Wall is built on mountain tops at an altitude of over 800 meters, where the air is fresh. Standing on the Great Wall, you can have a far-reaching view. It is also the best place for hiking. You are welcome to recommend it.

Small Group Mutianyu Wall Tour
It was the best of my stay in Beijing China. Our guide Lily was excellent. She goes out of the way to make your trip most enjoyable. This tour has better views and can take better pictures without many people around. One can ride the cable car up if you don't want to walk and can take the cable car while going up and Toboggan ride down is an added attraction and is great fun. In the beginning it looks scary but you end up much more than the cable cars.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Jinshanling Great Wall to Simatai West Sunset Hiking Private Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.
How much does Jinshanling Great Wall to Simatai West Sunset Hiking Private Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $42 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Jinshanling Great Wall to Simatai West Sunset Hiking Private Tour take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.
Is Jinshanling Great Wall to Simatai West Sunset Hiking Private Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Jinshanling Great Wall to Simatai West Sunset Hiking Private Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Jinshanling Great Wall to Simatai West Sunset Hiking Private Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Jinshanling Great Wall to Simatai West Sunset Hiking Private Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Jinshanling Great Wall to Simatai West Sunset Hiking Private Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Beijing?
+
On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Beijing?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Beijing?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
