    An unforgettable Experience!

Truly an unforgettable experience. We were picked up by our guide Tony and our driver Dong in a clean and comfortable car. The drive took approximately 2hr 15min to Jinshanling. We took the cable car up, walked the Great Wall of China with almost no other tourists around. The perfect spot for beautiful scenary, perfect photos and excellent stories. We later enjoyed a delicious dinner, drove another 30 min to Gubei Water Town and walked through the city towards the cable car up to the second part of of the wall to enjoy the sunset. Can highly recommend! Remember to bring some good hiking shoes as some parts are quite steep.

Great day with Tony the tour guide and Dong Dong.

Tony the Tourguide and Dong Dong the driver were wonderful. We loved the Great Wall and Watertown. Tony gave us great history lessons on the wall and China. He accommodated all our needs and has a great personality. Dinner was delicious and filling. Dong Dong got us there safely and in comfort. Wear some good sneakers as there is plenty of walking. Great time!

A magical Great Wall day — Jinshanling serenity and Simatai sunset drama

WOW — what an amazing day with Guide Tony and Driver Liu. This tour not only lived up to my expectations, it exceeded them. Our first Great Wall stop was Jinshanling, and it was truly spectacular. It felt incredibly private and peaceful — at one point we simply sat for 20 minutes taking it all in, and only one other couple passed by. Perfect. From there, we went on to Gubei Water Town for a quick walk through before heading up to the Simatai section of the Great Wall to watch the sunset and see the lights come on. Standing up there really felt like being on top of the world, and the huge storm rolling in only added to the drama and majesty of the experience. We made it back down just before the rain arrived, then strolled through a beautifully quiet, almost deserted town. The roads were wet on the journey home, but Driver Liu’s careful driving meant I always felt completely safe. All up, it was 10.5 hours of greatness — including 12 km of walking and 57 flights of stairs climbed. Thanks to Tony and Liu you both created an unforgettable day and I highly recommended!

    Great Wall - great adventure

Tony guided us to two sections of the Great Wall. He explained the history and construction and guided us to places for good photos. He did a great job of taking photos of us. We would definitely recommend Tony as a great guide!

    A trip worth taking!

Had a great time with guide John. We went to Jinshanling Great Wall, Gobei water town and Simatai on schedule, with an additional tea house stop where I got to experience traditional Chinese tea ceremony. At all the places he helped me find out nice spots to take pictures and offered to help me take them, which made the pictures even better. It was an amazing experience to see the more raw version of the great wall. I highly recommend this day tour and John!

Jinshanling Private Tour with Night View of Simatai and Gubei Water Town from Beijing: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Jinshanling Private Tour with Night View of Simatai and Gubei Water Town from Beijing cost?

    +

Prices start at $128 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Jinshanling Private Tour with Night View of Simatai and Gubei Water Town from Beijing take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Jinshanling Private Tour with Night View of Simatai and Gubei Water Town from Beijing worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 110 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Jinshanling Private Tour with Night View of Simatai and Gubei Water Town from Beijing?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Jinshanling Private Tour with Night View of Simatai and Gubei Water Town from Beijing suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Jinshanling Private Tour with Night View of Simatai and Gubei Water Town from Beijing?

    +

Around 39 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Jinshanling Private Tour with Night View of Simatai and Gubei Water Town from Beijing start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
