off the beaten track combined touristic Mutianyu

This trip will take you from Xizhanzi village to the Nine Eye Tower, and from there continue walking to Mutianyu. The route to Nine Eye Tower is not part of the wall so having a guide is definitely helpful not to get lost. Our guide Ronin and the driver are very attentive and helpful during our trip. Highly recommend it for somebody who wants off the beaten track experience and avoid the crowd at popular places like Mutianyu or Badaling...

I highly recommend this non-touristy tour!

This was my first time booking a tour through Tripadvisor, and it was absolutely fantastic. I spent a long time choosing a section of the wall that would be less crowded during the May holidays in China. I chose Jiankou. The guide took us on a wonderful route, and we saw the old wall, which hadn't been restored. It was quiet and peaceful, with incredibly beautiful views. The guide suggested a route along the Jiankou section, avoiding the Mutianyu route, and it was the best decision. I highly recommend this non-touristy tour!

    Adventure in Jiankou Great Walls!!!

It was a beautiful day and Benny's driving was smooth and comfortable. We reached Jiankou in good time. Benny knew the way so we managed to climb some of the most scenic stations. The views were magnificent with steep walls and green mountains. I was the weakest in my group with two other fit friends. Benny was patient and waited for me. Coming down the mountain was so much harder! I fell a few times so Benny took care of me by helping me most of the way down. Overall, despite the fatigue and physical challenge, I finished the climb. I am really happy to recommend Benny as the driver guide for Beijing!!

    Jiankou and mutianyu

If I could give Benny 10 stars I would. Benny was very responsive and good with his communication (English and Chinese) from booking to the tour. He gave insights throughout the tour and made our trip very smooth. Benny knows and loves the Great Wall a lot so he was able to recommend an alternative route and was very accomodating. Jiankou is a must see - possibly one of the most beautiful places and wonders of the world. So untouched and out of this world views. Benny is one of the best guides and drivers and photographers I have met! Will be recommending this to anyone who visits Beijing I hiked the Mutianyu section with my nearly 70 yo father and Benny guided us the whole way Thank you Benny for making our trip amazing I will remember forever

Jiankou Great Wall (To Mutianyu) Private Guided Day Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Jiankou Great Wall (To Mutianyu) Private Guided Day Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Jiankou Great Wall (To Mutianyu) Private Guided Day Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Jiankou Great Wall (To Mutianyu) Private Guided Day Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Jiankou Great Wall (To Mutianyu) Private Guided Day Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Jiankou Great Wall (To Mutianyu) Private Guided Day Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Jiankou Great Wall (To Mutianyu) Private Guided Day Tour?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Jiankou Great Wall (To Mutianyu) Private Guided Day Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
