Calgary tours - Rocky mountains tour

Our tour of the Rocky mountains was for 6 days starting and ending at Calgary. I didnt have this option to pick from the drop down menu so i chose the closest one being Jasper 2 day tour. Out 6 day tour covered, Jasper, Columbia icefields & Skywalk (optional activity), Banff, Lake Louise & Kootenay areas. The landscape was amazing and we would have enjoyed that trip with any other tour company or guide i guess given the amazing views. So in other words the tour company/guide makes the difference to the tour as you are paying extra for that piece. While the tour guides (we had 3 for different days) were very genuine and seem to love their job, i think the difference was that this company primarliy accomodates tours for a particular group of guests and hence the guides carry out their tours in dual languages. Sometimes it can be a bit hard to understand and a few bits of info gets missed. We also had a bit of trouble trying to get my point across to the admin staff when i had general questions about the tour before it started. So communication wasnt very clear and a bit confusing due to translation issues. If this company stands to specialise these tours for specific groups of people, that is perfectly fine, BUT please make that clear in your advertising material so that other quests are not oblivious to this fact and they can make a decision about choosing a tour with all info on hand. I do give credit to the tour guides as they tried their best to accomodate all needs. I think the company has a bit to learn from planning for logistics and communicating well and in a proactive manner. PS: While generally the accomodation organised by the tour company was good, there were issues with loud AC noises (more apparent at night time) at Banff Aspen Hotel and temperature control at Jasper Inn. Coast Calgary Hotel has exptremely limited breakfast choices (not worth paying extra for this) which are pre-made and kept in the store frifge the night before.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the stunning scenery and appreciated the efforts of our tour guides. We’d like to clarify that our guides provided all services as outlined in the tour package. Since our tours often include international guests, bilingual commentary is part of our standard service to ensure accessibility for all. Please also note that your booking was not made through TripAdvisor or Viator. Different booking channels may offer slightly different service scopes, so inclusions may vary accordingly. We appreciate your suggestions and hope to welcome you again in the future.

    Nature at its Finest

From the swimming pools fed from natura; hot springs to wilderness abounding, Jasper and surroundings are breath taking. There are so many free animals, but please do not feed them. Then they will wander into town looking for food, Jasper is very nice and even has a small movie theatre.

Great trip! I would definitely book with them again!

This was my first trip, and I was solo internationally at that. David Wei (tour guide) and Jones (driver) were both excellent guides. David kept everyone on time and provided great history and facts about all the tourist attractions we visited. There were zero logistical issues on their sides, the few issues we had were due to the attendees (left their bag somewhere, or got lost, stuff like that). The guides made the trip very memorable trip!

    We have done tours with...

We have done tours with Viator tours on 2nd July "Lake Louise & Yoho N.P & Moraine Lake 1-Day Tour from Calgary", on 3rd July "Banff Area 1-Day Tour from Calgary or Banff" and 2 days tour on 4th /5th July "Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour from Calgary or Banff. Tours were wonderfully planned & organized, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. On the return of the Jasper tour back to Calgary, we requested tour guide Mr. Allen & Bus driver, Mr. Hemen, to drop us somewhere near our Hotel but they disagreed, but the day before some passengers were dropped at Jasper at some location as per their request. We informed Mr. Allen that my son has an appointment in Calgary. To our surprise instead of dropping us at Ramada Hotel as per the itinerary, they took us to Airport to drop off some passengers to take the flight without informing us, this caused considerable delay, this caused a lot of inconvenience to us as we could not get proper dinner & delayed for the appointment, hence we got down at Airport & took a taxi to our Hotel. It is requested to look into the matter and do needful.

Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour: Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Banff.

How much does Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour: Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield cost?

    +

Prices start at $510 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Banff usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour: Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield take?

    +

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Banff is not rushed.

Is Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour: Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 45 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Banff, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour: Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour: Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour: Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Banff can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Banff and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Jasper National Park 2-Day Tour: Maligne Lake & Columbia Icefield start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Banff within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Banff?

    +

On Outty we rank every Banff experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and the Icefields Parkway Full-Day Tour, Hop-On and Hop-Off Banff Bus, ShuttleBus 2way Banff to Lake Louise (1Hr) and Moraine Lake (1Hr). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Banff?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Banff?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
