Not my cup of tea!
I did this self tour too late in the day and actually found it kind of confusing. You have to download an app and even then it’s not very user friendly. I didn’t pay much money for this self guided tour, so I guess you get what you pay for.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate you giving our self-guided tour a try! I’m sorry to hear that the app felt a bit confusing and that the timing of your visit made the experience less than ideal. Since you mentioned you didn't get to see everything you hoped for, we’d love for you to give it another go on us. If you're still in the area or planning a return trip, please reach out—we’d be happy to set you up so you can experience the tour in the daylight.

Too Hard to Find the Tour
The app was impossible to use!! I was suppose to get a code to open it on the day we were driving and that code was never sent to my email. It was stressful to be searching for how to use this app while we were trying to get out to see the day. I lost my money and do not recommend trusting these tours.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the stressful experience and regret that you couldn't start your tour. We want to assure all travelers that the access code and essential tour information are sent via both a Viator email and a text message to ensure it's easy to locate. Both messages also contain our dedicated phone number should you require immediate assistance. Please contact us directly at info@tripvia.tours so we can investigate your specific case.

Very good tour
This tour was very good. Kept us entertained and lots of great information. Each segment ends with a quick multiple choice question which is a fun way to pass the time. We were in an area with absolutely no internet and the GPS worked flawlessly. The only thing I would say is that this tour talks a lot about the mountains we were seeing, which was great, but instead of saying look to your left or right , it would say look to the North East— on a road that was quite wind-y with so many mountains, this wasn’t very helpful and neither of us generally felt like we were looking at the correct thing. I had to look at the picture on the app that followed the route and then it was sometimes clearer. But honestly, with so many mountains surrounding you on the drive from Lake Louise to Calgary, it would be difficult to correctly see them all by name. Also, there was a lot of good non-mountain info as well. Definite recommend
Response from the operator: We're thrilled you enjoyed the tour and found the commentary, especially the quick questions, entertaining and informative. We appreciate your feedback regarding the directional cues for the mountains. It's great to hear that you still found the tour to be an overall positive and recommendable experience despite this challenge. We'll take your suggestions into consideration as we work to improve the tour for future travelers. Thanks for touring with us and for sharing your honest feedback!

Quick and easy
Quick and easy to use. Worked great as we drove, narration started as we came up to the places that were highlighted. We could have done without the quiz questions and multiple choice answers. We used it over several days.
Response from the operator: Thanks for the wonderful 5-star review! We're so glad you found our tour quick and easy to use and that it worked great for you. We appreciate you sharing your experience!

Great Tour.
Surprised we actually had a fantastic tour. Traveling at the pace we wanted and being able to stop when we wanted. The whole experience left us wanting more.
Response from the operator: So nice to know that our Calgary to Lake Louise tour exceeded your expectations, Lynne! It is nice to go at your own pace and stop when and where you'd like, without any pressure! Glad we left you wanting more! Thank-you for taking the time to leave such a fantastic review!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Calgary.
How much does Lake Louise–Calgary Self-Guided Audio Driving Tour cost?

How long does Lake Louise–Calgary Self-Guided Audio Driving Tour take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Calgary is not rushed.
Is Lake Louise–Calgary Self-Guided Audio Driving Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Calgary, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Is Lake Louise–Calgary Self-Guided Audio Driving Tour suitable for kids and families?
+

How far in advance should I book Lake Louise–Calgary Self-Guided Audio Driving Tour?
+
Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Calgary can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Calgary and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Calgary?
+

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Calgary?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Calgary?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
