About this experience
Dominated by Mount Epomeo, Ischia is a beautiful island that neighbours Capri known as the green isle much bigger than Capri. You will see all the highlights as you go on a nice coach tour around the island. Time for lunch before reaching the subtropical La Mortella gardens. The gardens were created by English composer Sir William Walton and his wife who lived here from 1949. They feature more than 300 rare and exotic plants, along with ornate statues and waterfalls. La Mortella is divided into two parts: a lower garden, called The Valley, and an upper garden on The Hill, terraced with retaining walls. The many areas of the garden are linked by a network of walks, paths, ramps and steps that climb the dry walls allowing the visitors to reach the upper hill, where they can enjoy breathtaking views of the Bay of Forio.

As I said in the title a place to see absolutely.Testimony has come down to us thanks to the love and tenacity of a wonderful English couple who dedicated their time, energies and substances to the creation of this wonderful place where there are plants from every part of the globe.I find it difficult to explain in words what it feels like to admire this masterpiece.I can only attach some photos and recommend visiting it

Amazing Vista, well worth the walk
Beautiful Vista, stunning and glorious. Some areas are not an easy climb with steep uneven steps but well worth it and a chance to rest on each level. Great value for a day trip

We appreciated that...
We appreciated that Ischia was less "touristy" than Capri, but still beautiful and vibrant. The Mortella gardens were GORGEOUS, with a cafe in the middle that was a great place to rest and get a glass of Prosecco or snack. Our tour guide was wonderful - so kind and informative. My family (2 adults, and a 16-year-old and 23-year-old boy) all enjoyed the day.

What a disappointment
Ischia beautiful, but all the spas open in April (and many shops and restaurants) and we could not take a bath. Winter is best shot abroad.
Response from the operator: Dear Valued guest, Thank you for your feedback and the time you dedicated to write it. Your comments really matter to our local team to improve the quality's standard service by applying the appropriate corrective actions. Kind regards, Customer Service Team

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ischia and La Mortella Gardens: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sorrento.
How much does Ischia and La Mortella Gardens cost?
+
Prices start at $94 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sorrento usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ischia and La Mortella Gardens take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sorrento is not rushed.
Is Ischia and La Mortella Gardens worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sorrento, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ischia and La Mortella Gardens?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ischia and La Mortella Gardens suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Ischia and La Mortella Gardens?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sorrento can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sorrento and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ischia and La Mortella Gardens start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sorrento within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sorrento?
+
On Outty we rank every Sorrento experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Pizza School with Wine and Limoncello Tasting in a Local Farm, Private Amalfi Coast Day Tour from Sorrento or Naples, Sorrento Farm and Food Experience including Olive Oil, Limoncello, Wine tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sorrento?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sorrento?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
