The park is located at the southernmost point of the Sinai Peninsula; the coastline of the reserve forms a pattern in which you can see the profile of the Prophet Mohammed. That is why the reserve is called “Ras Mohammed”, which translated from Arabic means “head of the Prophet” or “head of Mohammed”.
