This historic site serves as the residence of the Emperor of Japan who is called "Tenno" and he is a symbol of the nation's rich cultural heritage. During Edo era "1603-1868", the imperial palace is called Edo castle because this place was used for the government of Tokugawa shogunate.

Wonderfully calming
A beautiful morning in a gorgeous location. Our guide was charming, attentive and very jolly. Well worth taking this trip especially if you have a love of plants and trees. Very relaxing - the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of Tokyo city. An oasis of calm!

Great way to start my Tokyo trip!
I booked this tour on my first day in Tokyo, and it was the perfect introduction to the city’s history and culture. Our guide was super friendly and had a great sense of humor, which made the whole experience really fun and relaxed. The walk through the Imperial Palace East Gardens was absolutely stunning—cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and it honestly felt magical. I loved learning about the samurai era and how the Edo Castle used to function. The guide even had pictures and old maps to help us imagine what it looked like back in the day. It wasn’t too fast-paced, and there were plenty of spots to take photos and just soak it all in. I also appreciated that the group was small, so it felt more personal. Definitely worth the money, and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo for the first time!

A peaceful walk through Japan’s royal history!
I absolutely loved this Imperial Palace tour! The student guide was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also very friendly and engaging. He explained the rich history of the Edo Castle and the Imperial family in a way that was easy to understand, even for someone like me who's not a history buff. The gardens were breathtaking, especially the East Gardens—so calm and beautifully maintained. It felt like stepping back in time while still being in the heart of Tokyo. We also got to see some ruins from the old castle, which made everything feel very authentic. This tour was the perfect balance of walking, learning, and enjoying the scenery. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo who wants to get a deeper sense of Japanese culture and history. Also, it was such a bonus that the guide spoke excellent English and welcomed all our questions with a smile. Thank you for a memorable experience!

Nice guides but visit to National Diet didn't take place
The young guides were very nice and it was great to spend time with them. However, the part about visiting the national diet didn't take place at all. The compound was closed and the guides didn't seem to be aware of the opening hours and that a 30-minute visit not just from the outside was part of the tour description. This had been our main reason for booking the tour.

The Majesty and Expanse of the Imperial Palace during Sakura Season
It felt like a private tour, as we were pleasantly surprised that 2 young Japanese teenagers were our guides for the Imperial Palace and Diet walking tour. We appreciated that we did the tour at our own pace and the weather was cooperative (but be wary of summer weather as we started ours at 1130, and there are portions of steep climbing along the Palace grounds...thank goodness it was spring and the temperature was very pleasant). The 2 tour guides were very knowledgeable and thoughtful enough to provide us water and multiple quizzes during important landmarks (talk about paying to be students again but it was all in the name of fun and exchange of knowledge)......our guides were also curious about Filipino culture and landmarks as we exchanged discussions about our respective countries, and hopefully we can convince them to visit so we can return the favor (and also give them a 25 item exam).....all in all we finished both landmarks at 130pm and they even guided us to a subway station to expedite our trip back to Ueno....thanks Tommy and Cal we will be back, hopefully for a tour of northern Japan. - Marco and Gen from Manila, PH
