A day at Hydra
Our tour was day two of our trip to Greece. The day was relaxing. We had our own private driver for the day. Great drive to Hydra. We stopped at the Corinth Canel. What an amazing site. Hydra was a neat place to visit. No cars on the island. Everything was just perfect.
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that your second day in Greece was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. It’s great to know that you enjoyed the scenic drive, the stop at the Corinth Canal, and the unique charm of Hydra. We are pleased that everything met your expectations and helped make your visit memorable. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Greece for another unforgettable experience in the future.

philoxenia at its finest!
We had such an amazing time on this tour. We booked it without knowing much about it, but it turned out to be the perfect choice, especially since we were traveling with my elderly dad who has trouble with longer boat rides. Taking the shorter ferry to Hydra made things so much easier. Our driver, Spyros, was incredible. He was attentive to every detail, making sure we were comfortable the whole way. He shared history and stories about the area, but also kept the pace relaxed. He even made sure we had time to stop for coffee, treats, and really nice scenic spots. When we got to Hydra, he gave us a list of must-see spots, including a fantastic bakery and a great restaurant we loved. After the island visit, he was waiting for us on the other side of the ferry, he had originally planned to take us back at 3 p.m. but ended up waiting until 5 p.m. at no extra charge. That small act of kindness really stood out. If you’re looking for a more relaxed visit without the stress of the busy port and long ferry ride, this is a great option. For us, it was the hospitality and generosity of our driver that made the day so special. I can honestly say I’d recommend this service just based on him alone, and I’m sure any other tour you book with them would give you the same warm, welcoming experience.
Response from the operator: Hello from Athens 😊😊😊 We are truly delighted to hear that you had such a wonderful experience on your tour in Hydra. We are especially happy because, although you were a little hesitant at first due to your elderly father, it turned out to be such a beautiful and special day. It means so much to us that you returned with the best impressions, images, and memories from this picturesque island. We are even more pleased that our driver played a part in making the experience so enjoyable for you. Hearing such kind words about our team is the greatest reward we could ask for. We would be delighted to welcome you back to Greece in the future and to show you even more of its beauty. We also truly appreciate the time you took to write such detailed and thoughtful feedback about your experience. Many thanks, Marina

Magical Hydra
Hydra is the most beautiful place! We loved every minute of our visit except you do need to be prepared for a long 2.5 hour drive to the dock for the ferry. Instead of waiting for the ferry which runs every 2 hours, we hired the water taxi to take our group of 4 to Hydra and back. This was a 15-20 minute boat ride. Andreas, our guide, was excellent at driving and giving information. I would give this trip a 5+ stars if it wasn’t for the long drive to and from Athens to get to the dock. Hydra should not be missed if you can get out of Athens for a full day.

Horseback riding was educational and fun. Food was fabulous. Seafront village was eye candy with many outdoor restaurants.

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
"Hydra: Wander the Cosmopolitan Car-Free Island on Foot": questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does "Hydra: Wander the Cosmopolitan Car-Free Island on Foot" cost?
+
Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does "Hydra: Wander the Cosmopolitan Car-Free Island on Foot" take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is "Hydra: Wander the Cosmopolitan Car-Free Island on Foot" worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule "Hydra: Wander the Cosmopolitan Car-Free Island on Foot"?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is "Hydra: Wander the Cosmopolitan Car-Free Island on Foot" suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book "Hydra: Wander the Cosmopolitan Car-Free Island on Foot"?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does "Hydra: Wander the Cosmopolitan Car-Free Island on Foot" start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
