About this experience
This is a trip to a real Greek island that is a lot more authentic than any of the famous & touristy ones such as Mykonos & Santorini. At the same time very cosmopolitan while maintaining its magic and peacefulness due to the presence of the locals and the absence of any kind of vehicle! A different approach to the popular 3 island cruise allows you to really spend your time on the "important" island instead of 90% sailing with very limited time on each island. Hydra is a "car-free" island meaning that no vehicles are allowed, and everything inspires tranquility, relaxation, and a gentle way of life. It is not surprising that artists find inspiration in the atmosphere on Hydra. We arrange everything for you to create a great day experience. Pick up from your hotel, quick drive to the port to board the commercial boat for a 2-hour ride past Poros Island to reach amazing Hydra! Your tour leader will show you the island & its history as locals would! Optionally include lunch & drinks.

Hydra, one of the most exclusive and romantic islands in the Saronic Gulf. A true pearl unique by its scenery. Hydra is a "car-free" island meaning that no vehicles are allowed, the only means of transportation are the cute island donkeys. And more importantly without the craziness of Mykonos and Santorini! You will have enough time to take photos and explore at your own pace spots such as: - Statue of A.Miaoulis & the Merchant Marine Academy - Monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary - Walk from Hydra port along the coastline to Kaminia port and back to Hydra town/port around the back streets - The Lazaros Koundouriotis Museum - Lunch or snack or coffee - Square of the Five Hydriot Prime Ministers & Rafalias Pharmacy - - Sophia Loren's windmill >>> Should you need more time on the island, please let us know in advance so we can book your boat tickets differently but at a small extra fee of approximately 40 EUR/hour

An Unforgettable Experience
This was our first tour to Hydra Island with this company and our tour guide Panayiotis. His knowledge of Greece and Greek Mythology ate unmatched. More importantly his personality, humor and stories elevated this experience to another level so much so that we requested him for our second tour to Aegina Island. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch and the beauty and history of Hydra Island. Would highly recommend this tour company if you want to experience a wonderful 8 hour private tour. Thanks Panayiotis for making our trips unforgettable.
Response from the operator: Dear Chester & Jenni! Thank you very much. We are extremely happy you have enjoyed our tour.

Hydra island
Panayiotis hosted our Hydra Island tour. On our way to the port, he gave great advice on ordering fish on the menu at restaurants, which set the tone for the day. We enjoyed our time in Hydra, and much of the credit goes to his effort, from the comfortable drive to the port, ticket purchase and ferry seats, the ride to Hydra, and the island tour itself. His restaurant recommendation for lunch was spot-on. He was able to secure us a table at the balcony. The food was good. Thank you for making our day enjoyable.

Perfect day tour from Athens
Theo, with Eudaimonion, whom we booked through Get Your Guide, provided a perfect experience for our private day-long tour. His friendliness, local knowledge, and efficiency made for a relaxed, delightful excursion. Highly recommended!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much, Anne! We are glad that all the ladies in your group had a great time with Theo. Once again, thanks for taking this tour with our agency.

Exceptional Door to Door Service
From pick up to delivery, Panayiotis was a charming host for our visit to Hydra. His genuine interest in our visit to Greece was evident with the detailed tips he offered involving every aspect of our travel plans. For example: he not only helped us build a pathway to a challenging destination, including stops along the way for coffee & lunch breaks, sharing “how to drive” in Greece was also emphasized. We thoroughly enjoyed our day in Hydra and much of the credit goes to our host’s efforts from the comfortable drive to the port, ticket purchase - seating - ride - to Hydra, tour of the island, restaurant recommendation for lunch (the food was fabulous). Our smooth return on the ferry, with future trip planning, and a safe drive back to our hotel was a perfect day.

Private day tour to Hydra
The day trip with guide Nikos went well. He came right on time to pick me up from my hotel. He bought the boat tickets ahead of time and planned the trip well. Hydra is a beautiful island. Nikos and I walked around the island. We walked extensively in the island to see many beautiful things. Took lot of pictures. One thing I might suggest for improvement. The cost of the trip doesn’t include the cost of the boat ride to/from Greece. Although the site mentions this, but it’s located in a separated tab one must click. I am sure there are many people like me who didn’t look carefully and assumed the boat ride cost is included. I would suggest make this information visible easily.
Response from the operator: Dear Pinaki! Thank you for your review. I'm glad you've enjoyed the tour to Hydra. I'm afraid not all the details can be "headings" and "highlighted," but need to be spread out, as you mentioned, in labeled tabs like "Itinerary", "Exclusions", "Inclusions", etc. We definitely do NOT do "fine print" :) Regards

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Hydra Island Day Tour with your Private Guide in the Most Cosmopolitan Island: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Hydra Island Day Tour with your Private Guide in the Most Cosmopolitan Island cost?
+
Prices start at $117 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Hydra Island Day Tour with your Private Guide in the Most Cosmopolitan Island take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Hydra Island Day Tour with your Private Guide in the Most Cosmopolitan Island worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Hydra Island Day Tour with your Private Guide in the Most Cosmopolitan Island?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Hydra Island Day Tour with your Private Guide in the Most Cosmopolitan Island suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Hydra Island Day Tour with your Private Guide in the Most Cosmopolitan Island?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Hydra Island Day Tour with your Private Guide in the Most Cosmopolitan Island start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
