    This is not an experience...

This is not an experience for solo travelers. I do not doubt that the Orchid experience is amazing, but the agency that runs it lives up to it's name...truco = tricky. I understood from the start that travel would be on public transportation, which was not a problem for me, but I did not get any information about the details of the travel until late the night before or I would have cancelled. I was incredibly frustrating trying to get the details of the day. Basically, I was told that would be entirely on my own two hours from any safety net and expected to go by myself and figure out how to navigate long distances from one point to another. This was a NON-TOUR and money was collected for services not rendered. The only things paid for by the agency are entry to the orchid farm (about $18 usd) and lunch (which is generally under $10 usd). After lengthy texts back and forth with Paulo I felt so frustrated, I woke up sick in the night and was not able to go. No effort was made to cancel the trip or reimburse the money. Unless you are traveling in a group, I would not recommend this experience.

Response from the operator: Dear traveler, We are sorry to hear that your experience with the planning and communication did not meet your expectations. At TRUCO, we value every guest’s feedback and take it seriously. As stated in the tour information, this experience involves public transportation and visiting a rural destination outside Bogotá. The value of the experience goes beyond the entrance fee to the orchid farm and lunch; it also includes the coordination and opportunity to discover Colombia’s wonderful biodiversity and local attractions. We understand that independent travel may not be the ideal option for everyone, especially when visiting rural areas. We also recognize that clear and timely communication is essential, and we regret that the information provided did not give you the confidence you needed to participate. Regarding the cancellation and refund, these matters are subject to the booking platform’s cancellation policy and the conditions of the reservation. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve how we communicate travel arrangements to future guests. Our goal is to create authentic nature experiences while setting clear expectations so that every traveler can decide whether the experience is right for them. Kind regards, The TRUCO Team

Hummingbird and Orchid Watching 1 hour from Bogotá: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bogotá.

How much does Hummingbird and Orchid Watching 1 hour from Bogotá cost?

    +

Prices start at $41 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bogotá usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Hummingbird and Orchid Watching 1 hour from Bogotá take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bogotá is not rushed.

Is Hummingbird and Orchid Watching 1 hour from Bogotá worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bogotá, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Hummingbird and Orchid Watching 1 hour from Bogotá?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Hummingbird and Orchid Watching 1 hour from Bogotá suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Hummingbird and Orchid Watching 1 hour from Bogotá?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bogotá can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bogotá and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Hummingbird and Orchid Watching 1 hour from Bogotá start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bogotá within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Bogotá?

    +

On Outty we rank every Bogotá experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Free Graffiti Walking Tour Every Day in Bogota, Bogota Zipaquira Salt Cathedral Private Tour + Lunch, Private City Tour Bogota + Monserrate, Gold, Botero and Candelaria.. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bogotá?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bogotá?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
