Explore Shanghai like a local.

The meeting point is a long way from downtown Shanghai but don't let that put you off. Its well worth the effort, we took a taxi there and returned on the metro, nearest station a 15 minute walk away. Mai was a great guide who spoke very good English showed us many of the highlights of Shanghai you could only experience on a bike or on foot. Shanghai is quite flat so perfect for cycling, we were a little apprehensive about riding a bike on the very busy roads but once you got "tuned in" to the traffic system it felt quite safe and definitely the best way to get around. Chinese food from a local restaurant was provided. Overall a great day and highly recommended.

They didn’t show up at meeting point

OK there was a big trade show in town causing traffic problems. They apologized profusely. They immediately refunded what we paid. They offered a free bike ride later (but it was our last day in Shanghai). Nevertheless we have never been in Shanghai yet managed to make it to the meeting point far from downtown 15 early. They never showed.

Response from the operator: Dear smith, due to the China International Import Expo take place in Shanghai on your travel date and our president Mr Xi Jin Ping also come to the city. Pls understand this is the biggest event in Shanghai with high security requirements. Of cause when and where our president will come, we can never get information before that. So there are a lot of main Street is blocked due to this big event and it cause big traffic chaos which cause our guide is stuck on her way to the meeting point. This is really out of our control. We pass our apologies and full refund to you at first time. We also offer you a total free tour to you and your wife at the same day evening or next day at your time convince. Anyhow we try all our best in this kind of situation.

Best way to explore Shanghai

I was in Shanghai just for one day and wanted to explore the most in that time. Also, I love biking. So this was the best option for me. Actually I was pretty late on that day. Every other started their tour as per schedule. But they arranged a private guide for me. May was my guide and she was super friendly, kind and would explain whatever question you ask. Moreover, she is a good photographer. We went not only to the major sightseeing areas but also to the slums, shopping districts, etc. I would recommend this to anyone who wanna see Shanghai the most in a short time. But I think the price for this tour was a bit expensive may be.

I had a wonderful day in Shanghai

May was a very nice, helpful and lovely person. She showed us so many authentical sights of shanghai. Her englisch was very good. We ate delicious homemade dumplings. May also gave me for my next two days in Shanghai very good tips to go or not to go. Her recommondations were very helpful for me. She is an insider! She also showed me where i could get a wonderful and cheap massage. After the tour she even brought me to the massage and picked me up later. I really recommend this tour with May!!

Response from the operator: thank you for the great review. hope see you soon

HuangPu River Ferry Boat & Highlights Bike Tour With Local Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Shanghai.

How much does HuangPu River Ferry Boat & Highlights Bike Tour With Local Lunch cost?

+

Prices start at $50 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Shanghai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does HuangPu River Ferry Boat & Highlights Bike Tour With Local Lunch take?

+

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Shanghai is not rushed.

Is HuangPu River Ferry Boat & Highlights Bike Tour With Local Lunch worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Shanghai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule HuangPu River Ferry Boat & Highlights Bike Tour With Local Lunch?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is HuangPu River Ferry Boat & Highlights Bike Tour With Local Lunch suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book HuangPu River Ferry Boat & Highlights Bike Tour With Local Lunch?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Shanghai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Shanghai and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does HuangPu River Ferry Boat & Highlights Bike Tour With Local Lunch start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Shanghai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Shanghai?

+

On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Suzhou Private Day Trip from Shanghai with Bullet Train Option, 4-Hour Flexible Private Shanghai City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Shanghai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Shanghai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
