There are some steep roads to go down on horse back before you get to the trail.it was an enjoyable ride .You are on the actual horse for about 2hours .

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience with us! You’re absolutely right — there are a few steep sections at the beginning of the route as we make our way down toward the main trail. We always provide guidance to ensure our guests feel comfortable and safe during those parts of the ride. We’re very happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience and your time on horseback. Spending approximately two hours riding through the beautiful scenery is truly a special way to connect with nature. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back soon for another adventure in Puerto Vallarta! Warm regards, Puerto Vallarta Tours Team

Adventurous and enjoyable ride through rivers, mountains and forests

A lovely ride through the beautiful terrain. He horses are very well trained and the guides looked after us very well. One at the front, one in the middle and one of the back. They are good horsemen and clearly look after the horses. If you want to go faster and canter you’re better off booking a private tour and request going through less rough terrain, as this tour is restricted by the route and the abilities of the various people in the group. I highly recommend it even as an experienced rider. The bridge crossing and the optional swim are also great features

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review! 🌟 We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the ride through the beautiful terrain and that you felt well taken care of by our guides throughout the experience. Your kind words about how they looked after both the guests and the horses truly mean a lot to us 🐎💚 We also appreciate your helpful recommendation for future riders regarding private tours for those who would like a faster pace. Our goal is always to ensure safety and enjoyment for everyone in the group while respecting each rider’s experience level. We’re so glad you loved the bridge crossing and the optional swim — they’re definitely some of the highlights! Thank you for highly recommending the tour, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure soon 🌿✨

    Somewhat underwhelming

The tour guide himself did not make the experience very enjoyable, it’s possible he wasn’t having a very good day, but we tried to make light of it regardless. The horses were in good condition, which was nice to see, but the bits used seemed very harsh for those used by tourists, and people who are not skilled horsemen. There was no explanation of how the tour would go, so it seemed to end very abruptly. The tequila tasting was probably the best part due to the worker Kevin, he was very friendly, upbeat, and shared a lot of information about the tequila without being pushy. I genuinely enjoyed his attitude as did others that joined into the tasting.

Response from the operator: Thanks, Serena for your review, we appreciate the time and effort and of course for choosing us. We would look into it to see what happened and improve. Hopefully, you will give us a second chance to make your experience much better next time you visit Vallarta.

    Great outdoor experience, great horses

This was a beautiful morning horseback ride through the mountain side, woods and river. Our guide was a very nice young man & very interesting. The horses were exceptional for trail ride horses. As an experienced horsewoman, I don’t say much about my experience on a ride like this & my husband is only an occasional rider so we find something to match his riding experience. It was an absolute delight to be on a horse who could take me for a ride, if that’s what I needed, but was responsive as soon as it realized we could communicate with each other. Wonderful local family run business, delightful outdoor experience and fantastic horses that a rider of any level will enjoy.

Response from the operator: What a great review coming from great visitors! We all thank you for choosing us and dedicating time to write a review so other people can choose to do the Horseback experience with PuertoVallarta tours. See you next time you are in town.

Horseback riding in the mountains of Puerto Vallarta: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.

How much does Horseback riding in the mountains of Puerto Vallarta cost?

    +

Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Horseback riding in the mountains of Puerto Vallarta take?

    +

Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.

Is Horseback riding in the mountains of Puerto Vallarta worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Horseback riding in the mountains of Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Horseback riding in the mountains of Puerto Vallarta suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Horseback riding in the mountains of Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Horseback riding in the mountains of Puerto Vallarta start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
